New York, NY - Dressed in all business attire, IBO/WBA/IBF middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) met with the media in New York to discuss his upcoming showdown with undefeated contender Dominic Wade. No it wasn’t the big fight with Canelo Alvarez, or a unification with Billy Joe Saunders, or even an interesting New York clash with another WBA title holder Danny Jacobs.

While the big fights are something that are craved for by Golovkin, the titles come first and keeping his IBF title was just as important to him as those aforementioned fights.

“I want all the titles,” a coy Golovkin told the media in the Legends Room at the MSG Theatre. “Wade, I think he’s hungry, he’s young, not bad, and he’s mandatory challenger.”

While he showed respect to his foe, he didn’t shy away from stating his opinion of other middleweights who chose to go another route in the 1st half of 2016.

After he announced his fight with Wade, Billy Joe Saunders tweeted to Golovkin that he should come to England and fight him. To that notion Golovkin says, “It’s a joke you know, he’s not serious.”

And when questioned about the fight between Canelo Alvarez and Amir Khan, Golovkin stated, “It’s not surprising, it’s a business plan, business fight. Right now, Canelo’s the WBC champion, he’s 160 pound middleweight champion, not Jr. Middleweight, not welterweight.”

Golovkin wants his place of history in becoming the undisputed middleweight champion, even if that means forcing the winner of May 7th's Canelo-Amir Khan to be stripped of their title if they don’t fight him next.

“I’m a boxer. I want big fights and the big show, not just to fight Canelo. I want all the belts.”
