      why ?

he could have just fought Derevyanchenko

he absolutely knew that selecting Vanes would cause an impossible log-jam in September, and kill a much better fight

      fighting Vanes is RIDICULOUS

I know but you can tell he wanted that Canelo money fight that bad, and the fight not happening wasn't his fault.

you are right..... but dude, you turn situations to your advantage..... you take what you can..... you make the best out of a bad situation..... etc, etc, etc.....

it is really obvious that Golovkin could have - AND SHOULD HAVE - either..... taken the opportunity to go after Saunders..... or taken the opportunity to get this mando out of the way, so that he can fight Canelo/Saunders in September

          so obvious

Golovkin is 100% to blame for his current situation..... because he could have simply fought Derevyanchenko

I definitely agree with you. And if you check my history i gave my grief for not getting Dervy fight out of the way now.

I understand why you feel that way you do and even though a part of me feels the same way you do, I really wanna see the rematch come September so I hope Triple g does vacate the IBF belt and chooses to rematch Canelo instead.
Either way he's fucced one way or another. He either loses the IBF belt or he misses out on a payday....

So he does Derevyanchenko in August and BJS/Canelo in December (Likely BJS, since Canelo is a diva who only fights two months of the year) at the end of the day, before he started chasing the ginger, GGG used to fight 3-4 times a year. I think he mentioned he preferred more over less fights.

Fine with me. Hate or love Triple G, if his next 5 fights before retirement are:
                  Vanes
                  Derevyanchenko
                  Saunders
                  Andrade
                  Canelo

I'd be happy with that. Because hate or love G, four of those five fights are big fights.

GGG can fight Sergiy in early August and then fight Canelo in late November or December, since Canelo probably wants an easy tune up fight in early September when his suspension ends to show he's still got the goods as well as to hype the GGG fight.

Plus there is no guarantee that Canelo will be ready to fight, or drug test for September. May be a wasted year trying to wait for Canelito.
Golovkin likes to stay active but that's just not realistic these days. This isn't the 1940's. If the fights Sergey in the summer he probably won't fight Canelo until next year. Naturally, Gaylordhoya will insist on a Cinco De Mayo date.
