Damage that's why, he'd win the fight but it would in effect put him off from fightin again this summer if they can get BJS and granted an injury at his age in a fight would probably put him off from a rematch in September. I think you are really looking at this illogically in terms of timelines. There isn't another champion in any division that's going to take a fight against a guy like Derevyechenko on three weeks notice...not a single one. i'm sorry I know this guy is held to ridiculous standards of "do what I want you to do" and if you don't "I told ya'll so." Sergiy is not an easy fight for anyone at 160. He wants a tune up because he's screwed on short notice, I think it's pretty fair to let him have one if he's targeting canelo and bjs for the fall..either one are fights we actually want to see, one for vengeance and one for unification. It's not like he won't ever get the fight, they just feel they'd like a full camp for any opponent and that's a pretty fair thing to request as champion and at his age. He didn't create this situation he's just forced to deal with it. At this point, just give Sergiy a million get saunders as soon as you can and unify. Then fight all the mando's back to back..i can live with that because those are all credible opponents.

It's wouldn't be 3 weeks notice if they had set up Dervy or Andrade as a back up to Canelo back in Feb. Remember how Eddie Hearn had Takam on standby in case Pulev pulled out. They kept the date and the champ fought a diff opponent with a totally different style.

Bottom line, Team GGG is looking for a soft touch to save themselves for a VOLUNTARY defense against Alvarez in September that might not even happen. We should expect better from a champion and especially one given the reputation as a killer like GGG has been given.

I will only say two things. Dibella is full of shhhh because he's got one of the most cringe worthy quotes ever from a promoter regarding why his fighter shouldn't fight Golovkin and for the record i'm a super Martinez fan and my post history has that proof and I personally consider that a duck. GGG's fight date with HBO is scheduled for May 5th though, so Saunders saying June really means nothing.

Sorry I have to disagree with Jacobs being the more proven MW. If we are going to give credit to Jacobs for stopping f’n Caleb Truax since his gritty underdog upset win over a shot Degale, and a shot Mora who knocked him down, because they are former “champions” well let’s look at some of GGG opponents. Well first off Kassim Ouma and Kell Brook are former champions, albeit at a lower weight class. Hell even Rosado was on a 7 fight win streak and i believe he was Bundrage mandatory for IBF a fight I see Rosado winning, so had he not fought GGG, he would be an ex champ. But as far as MW, he beat Lemieux who was IBF champ in a unification fight, he beat Geale who was a former unified WBA IBF champ i believe. Also fought Jacobs who technically is a former champ and better than the guys I just mentioned. And Canelo is lineal/Ring MW champ. And to be honest if

Actually Canelo came down from 164 to fight Golovkin. So him giving GGG at 160, Middleweight, the division Canelo had the lineal title in, doesn’t count as a concession he made to GGG, when he fought his previous fight at 164 and was always going to become a MW eventually
