Oscar in the background to sabotaging the date and anyone not Canelo.

Gary O’Sullivan was willing to fight Oscar made him turned it down. Oscar sticks Ryan Garcia in with another tin can the day before Cinco de Mayo to help water down a GGG fight. Vanes Martirosyan accepted the fight but fake outrage came from everywhere.

This entire problem is being made worse by Goldenboy

BS Spike was willing and agreed to all terms WEEKS ago when the fight was still scheduled to take place in Vegas on PPV for more money. Then GGG camp went the cheap route took it to Stubhub and offered him shyt compared to his original offer. Even Loeffler admitting he don't have money to pay Dervy who is even LESS known then Spike. Vanes is only getting the fight because he's the only bum willing to take the fight for virtually no money. He said flat out I don't care about the money I know if I win I will get money later. If Golden Boy was trying to prevent GGG from making a fight they wouldn't of had Canelo cancel the fight and waited until April 18 when it was officially canceled by Nevada. They canceled the fight to give Loeffler more time to sign and promote a fight and gave them Spike. And after Loeffler couldn't pay for spike when the fight moved to stubhub they gave them Falcao a prospect ranked even lower then Spike aka a cheaper fighter. It's always been about picking the worst and cheapest fighter for GGG. Look at the fighters who have been in the running from day 1. GGG been looking for fights in the trash can turning down better fighters. They don't want a risk and they don't want to pay. That's why Spike walked when they lowered the money terms from what he saw weeks ago.

You know, I actually agree with you. It makes sense. Golovkin has been wanting to be recognized as a Mexican style fighter his entire career. It fills in a ton of blanks about why this situation is so important to him. That he got cheers and Alvarez got some boos after their match in September must have validated that to him. Trip G- who I still do not think cares who he fights when, world beater or scrub- WANTS this date and refuses to give it up. He wants to headline a May 5 fight. HBO and his team are trying to make it happen with a small budget and slim pickings. Those willing to do it are wanting to get paid, those willing to take a small check are not worthy of the date or the opportunity.

CORRECT! And that is why Oscar is putting on the Garcia fight and forced O Sullivan to walk away.

I don't think people understand the importance of timing in training camp as it relates to peaking. Training camps are based on 8 weeks of productivity where you start peaking at a certain point. GGG is pretty much at that point right now. As fighters get older, that time table becomes more and more significant.

Besides, training camps cost money. Tons of overhead, you pay for sparring partners, trainers, doctors, rented homes, food, etc. People suggesting they just extend it, without first being guaranteed a bigger budget are being extremely short sighted and far too simplistic.

On top of that, the IBF still haven't ordered/mandated this fight yet. Once they do, if they do (which is extremely dangerous considering the short amount of time they have) then K2 can decide what to do with Sergiy. But until then, GGG can fight a voluntary opponent. People forget that unless a fight is mandated or a unification presents itself, boxers fight voluntary bouts. It isn't different just because it's Gennady we're talking about.

All solid points, but in the end it changes nothing about the facts. Alvarez is the real bad guy here, but if Golovkin insists on May 5 he will be fighting someone who has not earned this shot while a host of fighters who do deserve it (particularly Derevyanchenko, Saunders, and Charlo) have waited through the Alvarez fight and rematch. I personally don't care, because I do not write revisionist history and I know Golovkin had plans to fight Alvarez twice and Danny Jacobs over his last three matches and this mess was not his making. He isn't ducking, he is salvaging. But May 5 is a dead deal as an event for him. It will be a paid sparring session, nothing more.

The reasoning here is simple...Dereyanchenko is a better fighter thank Clenalo and beats GGG on May 5 or in June...GGG waits for last big payday with Clenalo then retires...or fights taxi cab drivers for another 3 years!

It seems completely unprofessional for the IBF to be quiet about what they will do.

If they are mandating the fight, then mandate it!

If they are not mandating the fight, make that clear.

To not be clear about whether you will strip GGG if he fights someone else is totally ridiculous.

Not true, it came out that Oscar offered O Sullivan a big build up fight with David Lemieux ONLY IF he walked away on Golovkin

YOu sure are man, good job. Except for one small detail, derevychenko would still have to fight somebody for the ibf strap if ggg gets stripped.

Yeah, I got that part wrong.

Looking at the latest IBF rankings, Jacobs, Charlo and Canelo are next in line after Derevyanchenko, but all of them are otherwise engaged.

After those 3, it's Andrade, who Derevyanchenko has been wanting anyway. Even more so with a world title up for grabs.
