The IBF should should strip GGG

The WBC actually ordered GGG to rematch Canelo next. So in that sense, it is a mandated fight, and the sanctioning bodies have an agreement not to issue conflicting mandatory orders to unified champions. They can. GGG wants to fight on May 5th. It's his promoter, Tom Loeffler's job to get him that date. If he moves this fight to June, he will no doubt be fighting Saunders. And Sergiy will have to wait again still. And you know the IBF, WBO, WBC, WBA will all allow that Canelo fight in September over a mandatory, so Sergiy will have to wait again until next year.
It could be the IBF are waiting for the outcome of Canelo's hearing on the 18th before deciding whether to order GGG to fight their mando. If the rematch is just postponed, rather than cancelled because of a suspension for Canelo, they will probably wait till after it's over before ordering the winner to fight Derevyanchenko.Comment

I don't understand why Derevyanchenko is so keen to fight GGG on May 5th. Not a lot of time to prepare, and he doesn't have much experience as a pro. I would have thought it would be better for him to wait till the GGG/Canelo rematch is settled, have a couple of tick-over learning fights while he's waiting, then fight the winner for all 4 belts.Yeah, they certainly won't do it now with 20 days til fight time. That sets a bad precedent and could get someone hurt. Let's say for instance Sergiy isn't ready to fight, yet they still mandate it - Sergiy would kill himself making weight on short notice and get slaughtered in the ring. Sanctioning organizations can be sued up the wazoo for that.Comment

But they can't strip a champion for failing to obey a mandatory order, if the order hasn't even been issued!Comment

en-light me on this one please, if canelo is ready for august or september then ggg wont fight in the mean time? The WBC actually ordered GGG to rematch Canelo next. The WBC did order the rematch. Now if that fight is off, it is the IBF's turn. I don't see what they would wait for Canelo's hearing for. That fight is off, even if he isn't suspended. I guess they could wait and let g fight some complete joke and then rematch Canelo. But if that is the case, I would think Dereyvanchenko would have a good argument that he should come before Vanes. Vanes!?! Wtf!?!The WBC actually ordered GGG to rematch Canelo next. This makes absolutely zero sense for g. The IBF is next, Derevyanchenko is going to be their mandatory. G is going to have to fight him. Why not take him when g has a full training camp and Derevyanchenko only has three weeks?
I do believe you are right in that, if g signs to fight someone before the mandatory is ordered, I don't think they can strip him. It would be a little ironic if g's next fight is against Derevyanchenko with a full training camp. G better hurry and sign some taxi cab driver or that is what is going to happen.Comment

Who knows what the heck is going on behind the scenes?
Sulaiman is involved too, and no doubt he will be pressing the IBF to delay their mando till after the GGG/Canelo rematch, if that is at all possible.
As a GGG fan, I'm worried by how little confidence Sulaiman and Loeffler seem to have in GGG's ability to get past Derevyanchenko without any mishaps. Could he be showing his age in the gym? This is a guy he would have been expected to steam roller without any problems a couple of years ago.Comment
