The Ring belt is most legit IMO. All of the sanctioning bodies are corrupt as hell. Not sure where they get their rankings from or how they determine mandatories.

If you ask a fighter, promoter, manager, network, etc in a candid moment, 99% of them will say WBC.

To many fans, they're all the same, but to a lot of fans, the green & gold is what they're most likely to recognize.

Why is the WBC the most prestigious? Many reasons, but one reason that sticks out is they've always tried the hardest to cater to the biggest stars. Other organizations were focused on bribe money while the WBC was focused on branding, trying to facilitate mega fights, etc. Father Sulaiman was already very wealthy before he took over the WBC, so he was more focused on the big picture than worrying about a thousand dollar bribe to move a bantamweight from #9 to #5.

The problem with this approach is that it a) ignores reality and b) doesn't hold the organizations accountable.

The WBA having three world champions in every division clearly made them less credible. When you toss all four in the same pot and declare them equal, that is what allows the WBA to get away with the multiple champions in the first place. The organizations should be identified and held accountable. They are not equal. They should be judged on their merits.

The WBO is essentially the Arum/Warren belt. It's hard to argue that it's as legitimate as a world championship as the WBC when the WBC is sought after by so many and the WBO is sought after by so few. When the WBC is so old and the WBO is so new. When the WBC was formed by so many continental federations, athletic commissions and governments around the world while the WBO was formed by the WBA's disgraced bribery leader. They're not equal.

You never see anyone for instance drop x belt to challenge for y because it means more, it would only be based on opponent etc now. That says to me they are all even.
It doesn't happen as much anymore, but it wasn't that long ago that Corrie Sanders vacated the WBO heavyweight title to fight for the vacant WBC heavyweight title.

Now that all four titles are recognized by each other, guys are less likely to drop titles in that way. Not because they're even, but because a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. You fight for the title your promoter or manager has connections with and you hope for the best.

Why? Ring is literally owned by Golden Boy Promotions. Since buying Ring, they've changed all of the rules and completely corrupted the title, which is why so many respected journalists quit in disgust and formed TBRB.

The lineal title has merit, but the lineal title and Ring have nothing to do with each other anymore. #2 can now fight #5 for the vacant title if it benefits HBO. Lineal champions can be stripped if it benefits HBO. Golden Boy selectively enforces the rules whenever it benefits HBO and harms Showtime.

The second Ring was purchased by HBO's lead promoter, it lost all credibility.
