I heard a rumor from a friend that usually gets good information from good sources that Spence and Crawford sparred two rounds within the last 12-18 months. Apparently the first round was Crawford taking him to school and Spence unable to lay a glove on him and the second round was Crawford walking him down and beating him up. Didn't get any real specifics beyond that though. Odd they would only spar two rounds and unsure of how it came up and sometimes these stories are plucked out of the thin air.

I think it's two or three fights away from being the best fight in Boxing and the most in demand fight. Possibly the one fight and rivalry that elevates both guys statures and increases their audience.

Mikey is very good but he's kind of a cherry picker. He's defended his 4 titles a total of one time and has fought basically the same style of opponent every time. He has cleaned out zero divisions and hasn't beaten anyone as good as Postol or Gamboa (who he avoided). Lipinets wasn't the #1. He's not as impressive a fighter as Prograis, Postol or Ramirez.

Garcia also got a gift decision over Herrera and probably deserved the L against Peterson. The same Peterson who got a gift over Diaz who Crawford smoked.

What divisions did Broner clear out? He also got a gift over Ponce and barely sc****d by the ghost of Malignaggi. What's his best win? DeMarco?

You are making assumptions. He's beaten the top 3 at the two weights he's been out and cleaned both divisions out and has yet to fight at 147. There is nothing to support your theory he won't fight a top 5 WW. Do you understand there's a lot of PBC guys at 147 and they are notoriously in house. Garcia himself as explained why he wouldn't want to fight Crawford and seems to talk about it in a way he knows he can't beat him. Horn is the best available opponent because Thurman is taking tune-ups, Garcia and Spence are waiting for Thurman, Spence has a mandatory waiting for Thurman (all PBC), Mikey is Mikey, Pacquaio turned down a Crawford fight and is fighting Mattheyse so Horn has the other belt and is the highest ranking opponent he could fight because if h fought Prograis, guess what? You'd complain he's picking on smaller fighters that haven't proven themselves.

Prograis and Mikey are at 140. Mikey did not clean it out. Lipinets is and was there too.

Ok, you are more impressed with Diaz and Postol than with

      1)DSG and Porter
      2)Khan, Matthysse, Peterson, Thurman
      3)Maidana, Porter, and Mikey
      4)Porter, G, Spence
      5)DSG and Canelo
      6)Brook and Thurman

Right there are 6 fighters, who are all the same size or smaller than Bud and who all have far more impressive resumes.

Bud says him and other fighters fight who they want. So why are these smaller, younger guys, fighting elite opponents who are a division higher?

I don't care why, the fact is Bud has never fought an elite opponent. He has never fought anyone his own size. Next he is fighting a retired school teacher who isn't top 5 welterweight. When Bud fights a top 5 welterweight, than we can talk. Right now, he is 30 years old, saying he fights whoever he wants, and that he has never wanted anyone tougher than Postol, but yea, sure, someday he will fight Thurman and Spence. Just you know, why fight them when guys like Indongo and Horn are out there? Two bums, definition of a paper champ.

Also, two defenses of one out of four belts is not clearing out a division and Prograis and Mikey were at 140 and considered better than Indongo. So, he didn't really clear 140 out either, did he?

Personally I don't believe it. Spence is a good fighter. Too good to be completely dominated. The story sounds like BS to me.

It could also be that Spence had been out of camp and rusty and Crawford was in the middle of training. That's common too. But yeah the story could just be b.s. Spence is very good but Crawford is great IMO.

I highly doubt that. Spence and Crawford decided to spar for two rounds? Out of no where? And no one ever knew of this, except for your "friend"? Sounds like a regular rumor. Something made up out of thin air, because the facts don't back up an argument.

And, personally, I don't see Crawford ever being in the most in-demand fight.

Just an honest question here. Say Bud destroys Horn like everyone expects him to. Who does he fight in the next 2 years to make the public want to see him? After Horn, Ponomarev is probably the next best ww Bud has any chance of fighting. If he is fighting people even less known than Postol and Indongo, how is he going to get any bigger and more in demand?

Honestly, who do you think Bud will fight in the next year or so? His next two fights after Horn?

Crawford wants no part of Spence. I saw that ESPN interview where he was hyping up Thurman and downplaying Spence.

Because Thurman has 2 of the belts. You're only telling half the story.

I'd like to see Bud vs Keith Thurman first because I wonder if he'll be able to pick Keith apart or will Keith take more risks and be aggressive against a smaller (well supposedly) fighter in Bud. As for Spence Jr I don't think that's a good matchup for Bud. But I'd watch either of those fights.

I also like that interaction he had with Regis Prograis that was classic.
