That's a really dumb excuse. Most athletes who get popped have passed many previous tests before getting caught.

I work at a mail centre. A couple of years ago a guy got sacked and found guilty of theft by a court after security cameras caught him opening a letter and taking cash out of it.

He'd worked hundreds of shifts with those cameras monitoring him and sorted thousands of letters without getting caught opening any of them before, but so what?

He got caught that time, and that was all that mattered.

Hopefully NSAC will do its job and suspend Caneloterol permanently.

im sure those who cried how theyre going to instantly sweep it under the are under a rug.

i still say they should let the fight go on due to nelos history, extenuating circumstances and the magnitude of it.

i know, the letter of the law. would it be so wrong, taking everything thats taken place, to gie a pardon ??? im not even sure if nsac has wiggle room regarding pardons. im assuming they do since theres an investigation instead of a straight up suspension.

i could see if nelo ever had caused nsac to raise their eyebrows prior to this. and since, nelo has been proving how things happened as he claims. hes completely transparent.

worse comes to worse, there are other venues

"All you have to do is Google 'clenbuterol' to see the stories of [boxers Erik] Morales and [Francisco] Vargas, of the soccer and NFL players, the cyclists, swimmers and bodybuilders who have tested positive for it after eating Mexican beef. None of that is going to hold water."

Both Vargas and Morales, who were allowed to fight in California and New York, respectively, after striking deals with their opponents. Both boxers were promoted by Golden Boy, whose president, Eric Gomez, did not immediately return messages left for him Wednesday. A week ago, the company put out a statement that the level of clenbuterol in Alvarez's samples was consistent with contamination from eating tainted Mexican beef.

I actually agree. No more Clenbuterol excuses. No more meat contamination stories. Move your camp somewhere where meat is not contaminated. By meat from an outside source where Clen won't show up.

youre right. there arent many repeat offenders and they get the ban hammer. no reason why nelo should be given special treatment.

i dont like the wording of how even if a guy didnt know he ingested tainted steak should be punished if that fact can be proven.

in your scenario, dude went out of his way to get fired. im not sure thats the case with nelo. thats why im harping

''but the letter of the law''.....

                Could something like this work?

                From Michael Woods/Twitter

"Me, I look with non lawyer eyes and think maybe Team Canelo can work off some of the wording in the revamped regs. Like, it says that a strike can be forgiven if the presence of the banned chemical “is not the result of his or her use of a prohibited susbstance.” If Canelo....was eatng tainted meat, yeah, steak ain’t clenbuterol, and he wasn’t per se using the prohibited substance. He was using steak! And if a credible expert can tell us on April 10 that the levels found in his Feb. 17 and 20 tests.....were and are consistent with eating tainted meat, then maybe that should be reason enough to let the show go on. OK, yeah, right, the hearing is April 18. Maybe this is all pre-determined...it's feeling like that, now. But anyway...the fat lady hasn't sung yet.."

It could but it's looking dim each day. The most Team Caneloterol could do is reduce the length of time for the eventual suspension.
