That may be up to sanctioning bodies as well as the Nevada Sports Commission. His fight with Wilder was cancelled by the sanctioning body of Wilder's title, remember. They just rescheduled it after Ortiz was cleared by the WBC and he paid a 25,000$ fine. However, he is still suspended by the WBA until November of this year as they did not accept the excuse it was simply from high blood pressure medicine. They had him as the #1 contender for Joshua's version of their belt.

The Nevada Commission is the one to everyone is waiting on here. Since it is in Las Vegas, they have to sanction it as well. The Sanctioning bodies have mostly been supportive of Alvarez.

Problem with boxing in general is too much focus on the short term and be damned the longer term.

Had to chew this over for quite a while, but I'm in favour of taking the longer term view here and the NSAC requiring the fight to be postponed to set an example for future years.

Have Saunders step in for May 5 (his hand will miraculously get better), then suspend Canelo for a nominal period so that he can fight the winner in September. maybe, then we still get to see the fight (assuming Golovkin wins), but a statement is made.

Great insight as always from Breadman. I agree that GGG was one of the most avoided fighters ever. When Sturm did everything possible to avoid mandatory for 2 yrs with WBA(his promoter later admitted making payments for him) Geale vacating the WBA title to avoid the fight, Canelo vacating the WBC title to avoid the fight, Sergio clearly not going near him when he was the best 160, Cotto paying money not to fight him, Froch Calling him out but never agreeing to fight him. Quillin was never interested to fight him, so many top names it’s ridiculous.
Canelo looks like a dirty fighter from all the photos of completely different body shape and then tests positive has to be frustrating for GGG and I can understand why he is angry

Hope Canelo at least pays a big fine.
Vargas was juiced on winstrol. he didn't murder nobody. Oscar nearly took his head off. and RJJ tested dirty for an anabolic steroid, much more serious than clenbuterol and boxing politics swept that under the rug. Roy continued his career unbothered by controversy.

I was extra critical of Clenelo. but come on man this is the only big fight this year. let them scrap. GGG hasn't stopped training. Canelo is still in the gym. people have already booked flights and hotels (months in advance much cheaper). and its a rematch we need to see. if it gets canceled theres no guarantee they reschedule it. Canelo's reps can easily slap GGG with a defamation lawsuit for his needle comments. if that happens this whole sht will get sour and we'll just have to debate the first fight forever.

Some good insight, Paid Vada is not the Vada Clean Testing Program
Which brings up the essential question, "When was Alvarez's last test before the two he failed?" An answer to that would go a long way toward resolving the issue of tainted meat vs cycling off clen.
Another question is how many times has Alvarez been tested since the Sept. fight?
Let's hope we get answers at the April hearing.

They were being too honest when the truth was Martinez wouldn't gain a thing fighting Golovkin. Cotto eventually got more money (I assume) fighting Canelo. No one in their right mind would seriously think Mayweather ducked him because not winning the lotto doesn't mean you didn't receive money that was owed to you.

There were plenty of bums out there (and a few good fighters) for Golovkin to build his repution as a KO artist.
your points are accurate as to why martinez or cotto didn't fight ggg but I think the end all result is the same. Ggg unfortunately went through his entire prime yrs withiut getting the opportunity to face an elite fighter. It wasn't until his mid 30s and when he showed slight signs of slipping that top names stepped up. Now his window is smaller. He had to wait almost 2 yrs for canelo, got the short end of a draw that must thought he won, and now this scandal.

I too am disappointed and feel similar.

I believe a 6 month suspension for Boxers who test positive unknowingly and can prove it (tainted supplements etc).
-12 months - 1st time Low amounts detected
                    -2 years - 1st time high amounts
                    -4 years - 2nd time high amounts
                    -Life ban - 3rd time

Standard rules should be there for everyone with power in all Organizations. Ie. Luis Ortiz temporarily suspended by WBC then re-instated like 2 months later after what seemed a lacklustre investigation whereas the WBA straight banned him for 1 year without a proper investigation.
In the same year he's banned by the WBA he fights for the WBC title and thank God Wilder knocked his cheating ass out.

Also Povetkin while under a ban from the WBC he fought for ranking belts with the WBO and WBA to get the no.1 spot in both organisations despite pissing hot at least twice within a short amount of time.

The sport we love is so dependant on money rather than the best fighting the best under fair conditions. There's always Performance enhancers used whether it be the Venue, Referee, Judges and unfortunately Drugs which can kill. Damn.

that move was motivated by the AJ protection agency. Eddie Hearn didn't want his golden goose nowhere near Ortiz. Wilder blessed that fool with an undeserved title shot just to gain credibility with fans. a true champ.
