I'd say it isn't exactly the same thing. 'Most likely' implies the balance of probability favours a particular interpretation. 'Consistent with' merely means that the facts don't rule out that interpretation.

I'm quibbling though, (although the use of language in the coverage of this incident has been interesting) what I was really getting at was whether there'd been some sort of official release I'd missed.

Consideration of levels? Canelo had over 12x the amount of Contador who was banned. More than Contador and two other banned cyclists COMBINED... TWICE. So if 600-800 picograms Canelo had in his system is a small amount, the 50 that got Contador banned must have been microscopic.

This whole levels argument is BS. Its setting a horrible precedent if you let this continue with no punishment for Canelo, period.

I’m not ready to question Canelo’s career accomplishments just yet. That wouldn’t be fair. Let the due process take place. Hopefully there is a thorough investigation conducted by a reputable agency.

If Canelo is found to be responsible for taking Clenbuterol I think he should be suspended for 18 months and fined 7 figures. If it is found that he ate contaminated meat, I think he should be subjected to random VADA testing for the remainder of his career, even when he doesn’t have a fight scheduled. No fine and no suspension. Very simple. Let’s see what happens.

Canelo should be tested year-long, for the remainder of his career..... simply because he got popped already

It may 'suggest' that to most people but that ain't actually what it means. I ain't gonna get in argument about semantics with you though. I think it's one of those cases where common usage (and maybe us all watching the same courtroom dramas) has made everyone think 'consistent with' is the same as likely, when all it actually means is that something doesn't contradict the available evidence. There could (and in this case appears to) be more than one scenario that is 'consistent' with the evidence... it's just that the contaminated meat theory is the one that is being put forward in most press on the issue.

And I ain't saying that I think Canelo deliberately used Clenbuterol as a PED, not at all. I genuinely have no idea, and certainly when it comes down to potential punitive action believe he should be given the benefit of the doubt, although stringent testing from here on in is obviously a necessity.

And yeah, I read Breadman's article - of course - dude is the best columnist in the sport for my money, and I have no real disagreement with his stance or yours. Like I say, man, I was just trying to find out if I'd missed some relevant information.
