If Wilder had 10-12 seconds left on the clock in the 5th, it wouldn't have made it to the 7th. Difference is Ortiz had 45 seconds to follow up in the 7th and still couldn't even drop Wilder. Wilder didn't even have a second to follow up in the 5th.

Why didn't they send Ortiz to the corner at the beginning of the folowing round he got knocked down in? Because Wilder is a Pbc fighter and every single fight where the Pbc fighter is the A side they get preferential treatment from everyone including the ref, the judges, the medical examiner, the athletic commission, the sanctioning bodies, and even the drug testing agencies. Its outright corruption and it needs to stop. Thats a big reason Pbc gets low ratings

“Godzilla vs. King Kong.” Haha That was the smartest thing that guy said. (That’s not Ortiz talking, BTW.) Frankly, I hadn’t thought of it until that moment, but this could turn out to be an unexpected trilogy, assuming Luis can pull off a victory in the sequel, of course. If the Joshua fight doesn’t offer itself, an Ortiz rematch would be great for the fans. Wilder might not want to take another risk, but it would be nice. I’ve got a lot of respect for Deontay for taking on Ortiz in the first place, and the heart he showed in downing the big Cuban.

Ortiz should let Joshua deal with Wilder cause he has a better chance. Ortiz should stay active and fight the highest ranked contenders that will fight him to get mandated for another title shot.

Exactly. If he can somehow avoid gassing, he would have a legit shot, but I cannot see him doing so and I really can't see any heavyweight being able to avoid that right hand for 12 rounds.

Others are saying that happens all the time. Well, outside of bad cuts, I've never seem something like that happen that I can remember. So, why not a rematch? It was a good solid fight start to finish. But I'd guess Wilder will say the usual 'we're moving on'. I really don't think he wants any more of what Ortiz brought to the fight. Ortiz would still be the best choice for the next fight, if Wilder can't get his Joshua fight. And it may be a great trilogy in the making.

Wilder scraping 2 Mill. against Ortiz vs MILLIONS against Joshua around the corner ?

Team Wilder AINT letting Wilder near Ortiz this time , ever unless he becomes undisputed champion . After that fight look for Wilder to run out the clock and only fight a mandatory if its enforced ,if he doesnt want Joshua .

I say ge bc at the end of the day only Wilder cankill it with outlandish demands barring a Parker win which is way off base .

If Ortiz had been in better shape to match Wilder he would have probably had enough to beat him and not lose focus

Wilder is moving on to "bigger" things... that is... he's about to line up a Mega Fight with Andy Ruiz...
