I wanted to like the guy for years because he's an exciting yet vulnerable HW with huge power, but he just annoys me, simple as that. A ton of the stuff that comes out of his mouth just makes me roll my eyes and I do think he would've been found out a while ago if he had been in with tougher HW's early in his title reign. With that being said, I do think he has been improving and as long as Ortiz doesn't look shot and Wilder beats him, it will probably change my opinion of just how good he is. I won't "become a fan" but I'll certainly give him the credit he's due if he runs through Ortiz.

This one's also particularly interesting to me because I don't get to go to a lot of boxing matches, but Wilder and Ortiz are both guys that I have seen live, Ortiz being the more impressive fighter in the matches I went to. Regardless, I'm incredibly pumped up for this fight and can't wait to see how it unfolds.

I think it's the most intriguing HW fight since Joshua-Klitschko. Should be bombs galore. Looking forward to it!

Not really, Ive been saying for a long time he needs a new trainer. He could be a long term force if he polished up his rough edges but it doesnt seem like he is interested in it. Its one thing to blow through low level opposition its entirely another thing to do it to world class fighters. If Ortiz is on his game he wins I think, of course Wilder could uncork a right hand and end it. Ill give him this he has the most power p4p in the game. A powerful, technical fighter with a killer instinct is my favorite style of fighter but damn he is sloppy. I will say this, he dispatches Ortiz impressively Ill give him props with out excuse but I think the skill will show up Sat night and Ortiz has more of that.

Yes, it's kind of a skill vs. power match-up and could either way. I think it's truly 50/50 which is why I'm hyped for it. I agree with the sloppiness. I don't like it either, but his refusal to change as you point out, may be his undoing.

I like Wilder. If his opponent was anyone other than Ortiz, I’d probably want to see him win. Deontay has his flaws, and men as tall and rangy as he is often look uncoordinated when they throw punches, but the guy is an athlete with undeniable power. A lot of the ****** shit he says is meant to draw attention. It’s part of the game.

If Ortiz looks not even great but decent in the fight then big props to Wilder for destroying him. If Ortiz looks like **** from the get go then I'll still rate Wilder the way I do now.

It’s not a clear “skill versus power” match-up. Ortiz has power himself. He could very well land a blow that ends the fight.

In a recent interview he even admitted he has plenty of flaws and he even worked on his speech, changing "You is" to "You are."

As far as watching a guy fight long term, I think he's come a good ways and he's starting to win me over. I know he has the deer in headlights legs and I've never liked his technique, but he has incredible power and he makes that work for him, which is what every fighter does in making their strength overcome their weaknesses.

If he wins Saturday night, I'm a fan. How about you?
Yes. I’m not really a fan of Wilder but an impressive win over a legit top 5 HW in Ortiz will earn him a lot of credit from me.
I think he also deserves props for facing someone who is very avoided due to being high risk, low reward. Plus the fact he’s a proven PED cheat. I’ve criticised Wilder a lot in the past but credit where it’s due.
