The sad part is superfly had much better ratings than Garcia Rios. Garcia rios only had like 550k viewers. If theyre bringing in viewership and putting people in seats as well as the higher weights than they deserve higher pay. Obviously market forces are in play but in this case they showed there is a big market for the smaller weights and they should be compensated accordingly

HBO only puts these guys on because they can pay them so little.

Yeah LA is a great fight town so these shows will sell well and get passionate crowds and TV ratings are good enough to cough up more. HBO only care about the PPV's now they are just trying to keep GBP happy because of Canelo and investing in middleweight because they want every GGG and Canelo fight on PPV.

It's great for fans that we get tripleheaders but it's unfair on these excellent fighters who also take more risks in their opposition level on a consistent basis for a fraction of what the higher weights get even with equal or worse views.

Yeah. It's certainly not HBO and caring about the little guys. They can pay less for a triple header even than a showcase for different weight classes.

So we study since pre school and some of us even go into debt to go to college to only get an job for less than 40k a year. I don't feel sorry for the mofo at all. There's ppl in his home country that would kill him for one American dollar. I don't care if he dies in a ring. U know how many ppl die each day driving on the highway? I am not hating on his piggybank or Floyds but there's a lot of ppl living worst, be thankful. That's y ppl love to see rich ppl go broke. I kill for 100k right now taxed or tax free. We living check to check out here hustling. I just watched a video about an chinese boy that walks 3 miles in the snow everyday with no hat and his family only makes 3G a year.

fill those seats up, rack in ppv buys, etc. and then you can talk about getting a raise.

Heh, ironically enough this is the same exact argument that Roman brought up about 2 years ago.

that's because they bring in more revenue. more gate, more TV money, sponsorship money, ******** money at the tables, everything.

vasual fans hear that the main event is between two guys smaller than their girlfriends and take it less seriously. can you really blame somebody who knows nothing about boxing for that?

also, from the back row of an arena it can be tough tot ell what's landing, what's damaging, when these tiny guys fight. when HW fighy ou can hear the shots land, see guys stagger around the ring, etc.

and finally, rios fought manny pacquiao on ppv and was a highly billed, very exciting fighter for years. estrada and rungvisai are much better fighters than rios was even at his best, but they never had a strong mexican and casual following.

superfly is a great concept and i'd love to see those guys getting paid more, but they're actually doing pretty good for tiny little guys. before gonzales you'd have to go way, way back to see a staple on premium TV who was that small. before my time, but you'd probably have to go back to michael carbajal.

Only reason HBO can have stacked cards like tsuperfly is because they pay these guys so little. Every other HBO card is **** because they pay the main event fighters like Jacobs and Kovalev millions to fight mismatches. These little guys should just refuse to be on the card until they meet their demands or go fight on the network that will pay them more. Ratings don't mean **** to HBO and Showtime, they make their money by subscriptions. Ratings are important to regular cable channels where they sell commercial time slots to companies. A show that brings in over 5 million views regularly will allow the network to charge companies a lot more money for a commercial time slot. There's a reason why a 15 second commercial cost millions during the Super Bowl.

The people that are paying their purses do not want to pay them any more!

Let the fighters call their bluff and not fight for what they're offered.

                      See where that goes . . . .
