Id say Jones, all this Hopkins hype is just a heat of the moment thing. If this poll is repeated in 10 years time 80% would choose Jones as being greater.......

      lol

before the fight you were talkin how hopkins was going to get owned, and when he beat your favourite fighter you said you weren't entirely sure if tarver would win it, you said it was a toss-up. well its a win-win situation for you, if tarver would have won you would bump your thread of how Tarver is the greatest fighter you have ever seen, but tarver lost so you said you already thought it was a toss-up. smart

Hopkins also admits that Jones was the only that beat him, he does'nt accept the taylor losses and he said he was robbed in his first pro fight, so that means Toney and Hopkins both openly admit Jones was the first to beat them in their Primes.
Because he was better then they were.
Hopkins was a great middleweight, but not much more than that.
Jones was ATG in 2 weight classes, great in one and very good in another.
        His resume blows B-Hop's away.

Let me explain why Hopkins is better.

Record 20 straight title defense - previous record was 14 by Monzon
            First man to beat Tito
            A win against Delahoya
First man to stop Johnson - the same mean that KO Roid

At age of 41 the man goes and beats the best LHW in the world in Tarver - The same man that owns Jones 3 times in my opinion.

Never in history of boxing a men dominated from the age of 35-41, this by it self blows away anything jones have done. You will never see another fighter this good at the age of 40, it's not possible.

Jones lost to 2 men that are actually older then him, he didn't lose to a young lion. How many great fighters have lost & came back, all the greats have done it, Jones hasn't done **** after he lost.

Jones beat Hopkins, when Hopkins was nobody, that was not a big event. His only big true fight was Toney, Jones became a star after this fight & maybe the Ruiz fight, who Toney with one hand beat Ruiz better.

Most Jones fans are bunch of uneducated young kids that doesn't really know the sport of boxing, I don't mean all of you Jones fans, I mean most.

Toney had a great career as a middleweight, much better then Jones.

Toney was champion at middleweight, super middleweight, CW & won a title at the HW against Ruiz, but was taken away from him, Still Toney is not finished yet at the age of 37, the man can still probably get another HW belt, don't count him out. If he dominated the HW division for the next 2 or 3 years then he will be ahead of all of them.

Still Toney resume is better then Jones, he fought against the better fighters, especially at 160.

                    Lets hear it folks.

Oh, and im not worried about the nuthuggers who pick toney.
He will always have a few people fondling his nuts.
It's like this - Roy Jones in his prime was probably the best fighter I've ever seen. No one could touch him.

But this thread isn't about who's the greatest fighter you've ever seen. It's about careers, accomplishments, legacy, etc. (At least that's what I think it's about). That's where Roy falls down (literally), because he's lost his last 3 and looked very bad doing it. Whereas Hopkins is ending his career on a high at a ripe old age of 41.

I have no doubt that a prime Roy beats a prime Hopkins 10 out of 10 times. But the latter part of his career has been a disaster, and that, combined with his reputation as being a ducker/protected HBO creation, hurts his legacy. I don't like it, but that's the way it is.

I would'nt say much better than Jones..Jones dominated Toney in his prime when he was much quicker and sharper, and Roy jones has beaten Hopkins, Toney, Tarver, Tate, Sosa (Who beat Johnson and KO'd Mercado the same guy who knocked down Hopkins twice to get a draw), McCallum, Griffin (Who has 2 wins against Toney), Hill, Reggie Johnson (who some feel beat Toney), Harding (Who is 1-1 with Tarver and Woods (who is 0-1-1 against Johnson in some close fights, and they are going to fight again soon), also he beat Ruiz more convincingly than Toney did and Toney was tested positive for steroids
