The diamond belt is an honorary award given to the winner of a non-title fight. It's not a world title. Why would I care if the WBC wants to give a fighter an honorary award?

The WBC own website clearly states that they view linares as the higher champ at 135 over mikey. It's more then an honorary non title belt because linares was their true champ before the champ in recess mess so they elevated linares ahead of dejan who was a paper champ and they been dragging their feet consolidating their own belts and either stripping mikey or forcing him to fight linares. The dude won a paper belt against the WBC secondary champ and hasn't defended it once and has been fighting in another weight class for an entire year and talking about fighting guys at 147 and 154 to make things worse lol

If mikey wants to fight other guys go after other payday more power to him phuk all these belts. But stop calling out linares and then begging the WBC twice to not enforce this fight and turning down contracts to fight. Just move to 140 permantely and dump the belt already.

You're lying. Mikey requested special permission to fight outside of the weight class, not special permission to not fight Linares. The WBC didn't call for the Linares fight because Linares didn't want the fight. It's Linares who has the power to snap his fingers and enforce the fight, not Mikey.

In the actual official ratings, Garcia is clearly listed at the top as champion. Linares is listed below with the silver champion, international champion, etc.

So using your own argument, the official ratings show there is no higher champion than Mikey.

If you are ordered to defend your belt against linares and you twice refuse to do that and in the process formal request the WBC don't strip you so you can fight someone else what is that? Just because he requested to fight a different opponent at 140 instead of 135 dont change a thing. He avoided the fight not linares. Linares can't force shyt the WBC has given Mikey special rights to not defend his belt. Special rights he requested so he wouldn't be subject to being stripped for not fighting Linares.

And before Mikey won the belt the winner was notified that linares was their mandatory. The WBC made this mess and has bent over backwards twice letting Mikey fight other guys then their mandatory and to make it worse in fights at 140 not 135.

If that was really true, Linares would ask for a purse bid and Mikey would be stripped. You can't look at the public words of promoters. You have to look at the actions of the fighters. Linares has had a guaranteed title shot for YEARS. All he has to do is snap his fingers and the WBC champion must fight him. Yet, four times in a row, Linares has refused to fight the WBC champion.

So clearly it is Linares refusing to fight Mikey.

Yes, Mikey declined to fight Linares on HBO for less money than SHO was offering. Just as Linares declined to fight Mikey on SHO for more money than HBO was offering.

That's an interesting interpretation of the situation. Before Canelo even won the title, GGG was the interim champion and owed a title shot. Cotto paid GGG to step aside so he could defend against Canelo. Canelo promised to fight GGG next if he beat Cotto. Canelo broke his promise.

Canelo then said that if he could make a defense Amir Khan, he would put in writing that he'd fight GGG next. This time, even with the promise in writing, Canelo still refused to fight GGG. Giving the WBC two choices. Blatantly violate GGG's rights, or, strip a major cashcow.

The WBC did the right thing and stripped Canelo even though keeping the title on Canelo would have been far more profitable for the WBC. Why would you criticize the WBC for doing the honorable thing? And why would you applaud Canelo for blatantly ducking GGG even though he promised in writing to fight him?

Mikey has never refused to fight Linares. Linares has, four separate times in a row, refused to fight the WBC champion.

If Linares had asked for a purse bid, Mikey would not have been given permission to fight at 140.

The WBC is finally fed up with Linares stalling and is ordering a purse bid next month, but Linares still doesn't want the fight. Now he wants Loma instead.

I think Linares said he plans to move up to 140 after the Loma fight so Mikey and Linares are going to fight eventually. I'm just happy Loma has a decent opponent for his next fight!
