Canelo is a midget of a middleweight and he couldnt handle Pavlik’s range. If he had a Joe frazier style of fighting maybe he could have worked his way inside but he aint got it like that.

And he cant take rests against someone like Pavlik. Pavlik would cut off the ring , hunt him down and just beat on him.

Canelo would get murdered

Absence has made your heart fond of Kelly... At his best? well to start with Pavlik is too big for Canelo. But assuming they could meet at a catch weight... Pavlik does have great work rate, he also does something that Mexican styled fighters do very well, he changes speeds on his punches very well. He feints pretty well also if memory serves correct.

Canelo is a much stronger puncher and has has developed very well defensively. this fight might be interesting, unless Canelo's skills put him in a class above Pavlik. Lets remember that this already happened to Kelly once against Hopkins so it is not inconceviable.

The argument is for "styles make fights", with the assumption that work rate and aggression would overpower Canelo...GGG didn't overpower Canelo though and Kelly already had problems with a seasoned opponent. Unless Kelly is too big I think Canelo wins this one with clean punching and defense.

Pavlik struggled with counterpunching, it's obvious that at the very least Canelo's boxing skills and defense/countering would give Pavlik problems.

If Canelo can make GGG miss and frustrated then there's no doubt he can do the same to Pavlik.

But I do agree that Pavlik would have success especially when Canelo takes breaks. Pavlik was more savy than people with credit.

I still would predict Canelo by decision though.
