Fight in the States and the ROW has to stay up/get up at silly time in the early hours to watch. In this day and age of worldwide TV it makes far more sense to fight in Europe to maximise potential TV audience. Add the fact that Joshua's live gate will be far larger in the UK and it seems pointless to fight in the USA, if you are already raking it in big at home.

Of course that doesn't account for the dreams all boxers have of topping a New York or Vegas bill so they all quite naturally gravitate to wanting at least one fight over there at some point. Especially so for the right fight. Which this is.

If all goes well we'll have two undefeated HW champions, both with immense power, who have KO'd everyone they have fought. bringing all the titles to the table for total and utter undisputed unification. A first. UK vs. USA.

Its better to relate Joshua/Takams numbers to Spence/Brooks, both at 5pm, pretty much exactly the same numbers watched both. Davis/Walsh was about 100K less. I don't buy into this no one knows who Joshua is in the US, talking like its the 1970s, no internet.

Beating the only other top hw is a pretty good way to get known the world over. And again, ppv's bring in big money in the U.S. Everyone knows this. Do you honestly think if his fights had a million ppv buys in the USA he wouldn't be making double what he makes now? And he does make good money now. 887,000 viewers, in a country with a population the size of America, is not going to make Wilder a star, and those numbers would be regarded as a dismal flop for a non PPV fight in the UK.
