I don't see why people keep saying Roy 'ruined' his legacy by losing a bunch of times when he was shot. Yeah he's been fighting too long but since that's widely agreed why should it damage his legacy? shot Ali lost to Berbick but everyone knows Ali was way better than him and most people rightly see him as the goat at heavyweight.
Everyone can still see how good Roy was at his best, that doesn't disappear because of irrelevant losses as the years go by.Last edited by Caught Square; 02-06-2018, 08:18 AM.

“Floyd Mayweather defeated more ranked welterweight contenders than Thomas Hearns (rankings by Ring/TBRB). He defeated more top five contenders than almost anyone outside the top ten... Mayweather defeated more lineal welterweight than Barney Ross. ..He made a past-prime Manny Pacquiao, his #1 contender at the weight, look like a journeyman. He defeated more #1 ranked fighters (champions or top rated contenders) than all but the most storied fighters. He only boxed three unranked men at the weight…He was one of the few men to become a two-time lineal world welterweight champion, and the only man to ever do it without losing a fight..” - The Sweet Science (ranked Floyd the 9th best WW of all time)

May 15, 2004:
For much of Jones' career, he was excruciating to follow. He never seemed willing to test his extraordinary talents, yet he never ceased trumpeting his greatness.
There were so many pedestrian foes, so much disappointment in the way he would sandbag negotiations until HBO remitted to unworthy opposition, so much disdain from fans who were tired of the rigmarole, the lousy rap CDs and the pro basketball pipedreams.
In looking back on his career, however, he clearly is the finest fighter of his generation. Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad can't touch him. Only Bernard Hopkins comes close, and Jones beat him.
Jones is 49-2 now, with 38 knockouts. Corrupt judges robbed him of the Olympic gold medal in 1988. He won professional titles in four divisions from middleweight to heavyweight. He certainly could've claimed a cruiserweight title had he cared to.
He easily defeated 17 former, current or future world champions, including two fighters currently listed among the pound-for-pound elite (Hopkins and James Toney) and a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame (Mike McCallum).

Real fans of boxing and not those that became fans because of Mayweather would completely agree. Floyd claims The Best Ever, not of his generation. This means the litmus test must include SRL, Hearns, Duran, Chavez Sr, Wilfredo Benitez, Aaron Pryor et al. These guys would have kicked the **** out of Mayweather. In fact, to the knowledgeable fan, there are numerous fighters that have done more than Floyd for fight fans including Pac man whose legacy to boxing will far outweigh Frauds. History is layered with guys that would kick Frauds ass.Last edited by yoshik; 02-06-2018, 08:27 AM.

Good thing is that there is a youtube and he is absolutely right. He can fight til he is 80 and it wont matter. History remembers primes. I gots about 150 books in my boxing collection that proves that. RJJ was a freak
