    BINGO!!! EXACTLY!!!

And that is why I have to disagree with Roy. He should have been more frugal with his money and he would have been able to retire much earlier and he also would be revered as a living, walking, breathing legend that was nearly invincible!

But as you pointed out, his legacy is GREATLY tarnished by all the losses and knockout losses!

Floyd has the better resume. Floyd is undefeated. Floyd won in 5 weight classes. Floyd made more money. Floyd was dominating at 34 when Roy was getting knocked out. Jones was not a clean athlete and had positive test results: http://www.espn.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=2782402. With that being said, No one has ever came close to Roy Jones' peak. However, greatness is a measure of all factors. Mayweather had a peak that lasted 15 years. Roy's peak was just a few.

Obviously Roy was far superior to Floyd and anyone else athletically and his speed and tricks. He did fight on too long, and probably did not have as good fundamental skills to last as long as Hopkins. As for records, everybody knows Mayweather is not truly 50-0, but when you get a lucky decision here and there, as he did, then that's the record 'officially'.

The problem with fighting so far past your prime is that is what you will be remembered for

Theres a whole generation of kids that only remember Michael Jordan from the Wizards.

so, becasue he fought on in his 40s to get beat up defenceless by calzaghe enzo etc, then you think he never really won titles from MW to HW?

It still destroys legacies man. Every fighter who fights past his prime with the exception of George Foreman (and Ali because everyone chooses to forget the Holmes and Berbick fights) when a fighter fights past his prime, it wrecks their legacy. Especially when they looked untouchable in their prime.

Ali vs Berbick was a disgusting match to watch, luckily for Ali it was never televised in the states and hardly anyone even attended.

I am not sure floyd dominated any division that he fought in. Jones did in one.

But intangibles like made more money dont really amount to great boxing. If we are going intangibles, Jones was in the 2nd biggest scifi movie franchise of all time. Mayweather is in "The Boy". Jones is a video game star, Money wasnt even in Fight Night. Pointless points, see?

So it depends on whether you choose to remember or forget a particular fight? Or whether you saw it?

Then surely you are arguing whether his legacy is damaged or not depends on the personal choice of which fights you chose to remember and forget?

in that case, I dont recall any of Moneys fighte because they were all on American channels, so I dont rate him based on them? No that doesnt work, sorry.

Who’s to say it doesn’t work that way? It’s your own personal opinion, you can do whatever you want with your personal opinion. Right or wrong.
