One positive that stands out for joe is that he displays his ability to fight on the backfoot well in this bout, even if the negative of him turning to the ref to ask him to save him kinda ruins that.
This is the last post I make to you....

Go and watch the fight again. Mitchell doesn't land any punches after he got dropped. Your memory is ****.

I actually said that to you in the last post!

I guess mimicry is a form of flattery.

Mitchell doesn't land any punches after he got dropped
he lands 5, despite actually not being offensive, he is clearly waiting for joe to gas out with a fruitless attack.

It was clearly evens, with one drop apeice inside 5 minutes. The difference was joe asking the ref to stop it because he was afraid of the real prospect of getting stopped against someone he couldnt hurt, and then avoiding a rematch like the plague.

      Keep up your winning ways.

now stop like you promised, please, the posts about joe frazier s resume being rubbish. That does you no favours.

The family was athletic the dad was a football coach or something, so they know about how to operate in a sporting environment regarding training, etc. His father coached him, was a task master with him...I don't know exactly how much his dad did, or how much was natural to Joe, and what was not...frankly I doubt you know any of this information either.
Joe says it himself, it was all natural and untaught. Back when he was a power puncher going for KO's in the first 10-12 years of his career, his ring generalship was **** - just stood square-on with chin high winging blows with very little movement.

His dad was a chain-smoking 'soccer' coach in the Welsh valleys to entry level junior teams who swore multiple times a sentance.

Who cares? Knocking someone out isn't the only way to win. It's a sport. There are many ways to win. I personally think he had very little power for his weight. Does it matter? No. There's more than one way to skin a Cat. Calzaghe had very fast hands for his weight. He had bags of heart too. Great feet and upper body movement.

In fact the reason I like Calzaghe is because he was very slick. The reason I disliked Calzaghe was because of his very, very poor record against sub-par opponents. Even the big names he faced most would agree were way past their best.

The funny thing is as many domestic level fighters he faced it begs the question why he didn't give Froch a shot. Calzaghe would have schooled him too but he did duck that fight let's not beat around the bush.

Let's not get it twisted though. Calzaghe could really fight. Any real boxing fan would tell you this.

Plus he gave every Brit the proverb "Jeff Lacey" which Brook, Hearn and the Ingles use so much but got it so so wrong LMFAO!!

In fact pretty sure I heard Dominic Ingle mention Jeff Lacey again when Saunders fought Lemieux. Fùcking obsessed.

I don't pretend to think that his father is much of a boxing presence, but Joe obviously bucks up and listened to his father in the corner... I find it hard to believe that his dad was just there and tolerated by Joe.

Joe's athletic talent was part of what enabled him and coming from a sports family, no matter what level enabled him. Thats my point. It was not a lark.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=740s&v=57ZC8EoPYUM 12:15m-12:20m I think Chris was expecting a very easy nights work haha

I remember Eubank saying about Calzaghe: 'All he can do is punch, but I've dealt with punchers half my life and my chin is impregnable, so this Joe Calzaghe cannot win'
