Why Do People Say Calzaghe Was A Slapper or Featherfisted?

he was unknown in the 90s in britain outside cardiff.
typical newspaper entries were along the lines of one/two line mentions as an addendum to a bigger fight. This was even happening up to the time Khan was making headlines..joe got a one liner under him.
However this changed once he lined up lacy and own a title that people recognised in 2004.
Shame cos he was a pretty good fighter - awkward style, southpaw, good chin, outstanding tank. He only had himself to blame for leaving a major title tilt till he was 34, even stuart hall won his earlier. But he evnetually went on to surpass Stuart Hall of course with his unification.Last edited by DreamFighter; 01-09-2018, 06:31 AM.Comment

he walked through the punches. when he slipped - That is when the ref
jumped in, not on a punch.
both joe and byron said it was premature, so its just you against the people you are defending. good luck.
not american. You Americans are dumb as ****. As well as being poisonous. Suck it up *****.
u must enjoy being so wrong.Comment

You are aware of what his father did for him? I mean like you know from experience, or a very reliable source that this is true? To the point where one can say that Joe's natural ability was such, and his father's contribution was such...Otherwise it is conjecture.
The family was athletic the dad was a football coach or something, so they know about how to operate in a sporting environment regarding training, etc. His father coached him, was a task master with him...I don't know exactly how much his dad did, or how much was natural to Joe, and what was not...frankly I doubt you know any of this information either.Comment

Holy crap. Let me answer your question: To squeeze the BIG money out your career. You would just go on and retire just before the pinnacle of your career. That's why no one will remember your name.Comment

Calzaghe has a much better resume than Frazier. To even think otherwise shows how deluded you really are.if u had any sense then you would have not entered into a "frazier dont come close to joe calzaghe!" debate. I mean, really?
but you had to be a fool didnt you? what kind of joke are you? frazier koed mathis, foster, stopped ellis and quarry, and pretitle stopped chuvalo.
yeh thats why the ref jumped into stop it seconds later. some coincidence, sherlock.
2nd round genius. You clearly havent a clue what you are talking about.
not american - again you are exposed not knowing what you are talking about. I agree about the first point though, you being primary evidence.
So Frazier stopped some nobodies then?? Haha
Oh, and Foster is a lightheavy. He had no business at heavyweight. It meant nothing.
The ref stepped in and stopped it??????? I'm talking about the Hopkins fight. Sherlock!!!
Where are you from then? Because you sound exactly like an American.Comment

Mitchell didn't walk through ****. He got up on wobbly legs after the knockdown and was like a drunken sailor getting hit with unanswered punches.
When Mitchell fell into the ropes, the ref was looking at his top half, not his legs. How was he to know he just stumbled? It was a good stoppage. Mitchell was hurt. End of story.Comment

he walked through several times, are you blind? was hitting back, and slipped. no punch landed. At worst he was momentarily disorientated, not hurt.
funny you dont mention joe on wobbly legs immediately before and you dont think why he wasnt stopped for it. Same old biased BS. The ref was bent. If it had been end of round he'd have carried joe back to his corner like they do in cardiff.
the ref was spending more time talking to joe calzaghe when he panicked and asked the ref to stop the fight. BLATANTLY joe turns to ref asking him to stop it!When Mitchell fell into the ropes, the ref was looking at his top half, not his legs.
cos hes not blind like u. And now you've just admitted it was a stumble! So it was a fake stoppage in your eyes! How was he to know he just stumbled?Comment
