lots of those stoppages were of the british variety. if you watch the trajectory of his punches he does a lot more hitting with the "fingers" than most pro fighters. people call it a slap. if you turn your knuckles over you can hit much, much harder. addressing the target iwth the knuckles reduces the surface area that's coming into contact with the target, making for a harder punch. doesn't mean he wasn't a very good fighter, because he was. the guy had very bad hands and compensated for it. by slapping some of the time.
