So if fans buy tickets and enjoy themselves and casual fans flipping through the channels catch a fun fight for free, it's not worth it no matter how much they're being paid? Interesting. Is it possible you're just an extremely negative person?

They're featuring this fight before the Danny Garcia vs Rios fight on Showtime.
My guess is they're trying to set up the winner which will no doubt be Alexander to fight Garcia, and Rios to finally fight Ortiz.
And that's a problem why? Thurman is fighting Vargas and if he wins, he's likely fighting Porter. Garcia will need to stay busy until a title shot next year, so what would be wrong with Garcia vs Alexander while he waits or Alexander vs Vargas or Peterson after they lose to spence & Thurman?

It's a decent FS1 level main event being put on free TV to attract some new fans. I swear some of you will ***** no matter what.

I'd rather they feature someone like Kieth Thurman in a tuneup fight before a rematch with Garcia later in the year.
Thurman is fighting Jesse Vargas in April and then must make a mandatory defense against Porter. Garcia isn't getting a Thurman rematch until next year.

Save the money to pay other guys who have a future. Not two guys who have had their best days way behind them.
Look at the upside. We can bet on who quits first.

Does Ortiz' dirty fighting cause Devon "Blinky" Alexander to quit first because got sweat in his eyes and the occasional headbutt?

Does Alexander land one of those head snapping shots on Victor "No Mas" Ortiz that seems to consistently be the signal for him to crawl to the ropes or fake being unable to meet the ref's count?

      Edge of the seats exciting.

Not a great fight to put on Fox. Both guys have been in terrible fights and have a reputation of refusing to throw punches down the stretch in a close fight (Alexander-Martinez, Ortiz-Peterson).

The main reason I’m puzzled by this fight is that neither has anything to gain from winning. It could set up a fight against a contender, but their names are big enough to skip over each other and go right into that type of fight. They are the type of opponents that Garcia, Thurman, etc feed on unfortunately.

So their manager should make no attempt whatsoever to get them fights? Because they've personally disappointed you?

They both have a name. They're both former champions. Neither one has anything better to do. Who exactly should they be fighting instead?

I don't consider that I'm a negative person. I'm just a fan who wants quality boxing matches on tv. We go months sometimes without fights and when we do we get fights like these.
Alexander a guy who proved he wasn't a top dog when he quit against Bradley way back in early 2011, and Ortiz the poster boy for quitting.

I didn't day that. I said fox shouldn't waste money making this a main event. You want to put it on an undercard? Cool. You want it as an opening to PPV, go ahead.
My opinion is don't waste free tv boxing money on this.

PBC buys time slots. I’m pretty sure Fox isn’t spending a dime.

You have no idea what FOX is paying. If this was an FS1 show, would it bother you? Why does it bother you that fans without cable will be able to watch?
