Neither guy doing anything near the top of the division. Winner just getting a couple more decent paydays past this.

Save the money to pay other guys who have a future. Not two guys who have had their best days way behind them.
        Test run, perhaps

If Devon wins decisively, he'll likely end up in a title eliminator against a Vargas or Peterson type, assuming they lose their upcoming title shots.

A fight like this is how you create a challenger the public has heard of. Two former champions. The winner will go on to bigger things. The loser may not get another chance.
Dude whatever they're paying them is not worth it.
They're featuring this fight before the Danny Garcia vs Rios fight on Showtime.
My guess is they're trying to set up the winner which will no doubt be Alexander to fight Garcia, and Rios to finally fight Ortiz.

Fights that IMO are meaningless and a waste. I'd rather they feature someone like Kieth Thurman in a tuneup fight before a rematch with Garcia later in the year. Build to the future not past prime fighters.

I'd rather they do a test run with fighters who actually have a future. These two have disappointed for years.

                    This should be a stink-
-The entertainment factor is still there though because Ortiz will find a weird but entertaining way to lose...

True. I suspect Alexander does have a future though.
