Are you honestly telling me you're excited at watching victor Ortiz in a main event?
For $1m in purses, put together a better 2-fight card for FOX (in case you didn't know, the show so far is Ortiz-Alexander and a seeming title eliminator between Caleb Plant and 'Porky' Medina).

Now, I've got no idea what budget they're actually working with, but let's assume.

What do you think you could book in it's place (former champ but name fighter, in a competitive fight on paper, with the outcome setting up a better fight for the winner)?

Oh, if the loser wants to keep fighting, Haymon will get them a fight if they're willing to fight for FS1 level purses, I just mean that the winner may get a title shot or eliminator, while the loser probably never reaches that level again. With Devon IBF #7 at welter, #1 & #2 vacant, and Lamont likely to lose and fall behind him, Devon is clearly being moved towards the mandatory spot for Spence if he's good enough to win an IBF eliminator (which are much tougher for Al to control than WBC eliminators).

Still, to your point, this is an effective way to build a new challenger to the general public; if Keith Thurman opts to fighting Shawn Porter again, Errol Spence Jr will be looking for a tickover defense, and I think FOX would be ecstatic to get Spence Jr vs the Ortiz-Alexander winner for their channel.
Anything is possible once we see how the UFC deal shakes out. Obviously Spence is too big a star for FOX the way things are constituted now, but that could change next year.

If Deontay Wilder can fight a tickover on FOX, I think there's enough money in the mix to have Erroll Spence Jr fight a tickover on FOX. But yeah, let's see how the UFC deal gets settled first

Well those were the time buy days. Was an investment in Wilder's future just as Spence fighting on NBC was.

I don't see any huge stars fighting on FOX this year. Maybe next year if PBC gets a beefed up deal.

No inside information here, but I think the formal deal is in the offing in the near future. With UFC deal seemingly heading into final talks, and FOX/FS1 already comfortable with splitting content packages (throughout the entire FOX deal, the UFC did keep their 12-14 strongest shows for themselves; Showtime/CBS gets first crack at fights, so the setup would be similar).

Unless Showtime wants to carry Spence's tickover fight

You very well could be right. Just hard to predict what will happen with PBC & Fox without knowing what happens with UFC. If UFC leaves Fox, they're going to need to fill that void. If UFC stays, Fox will finally know what the cost is going to be and PBC won't be in limbo anymore waiting.

But the scope of any PBC deal on Fox completely depends on what happens with UFC.

And the domino effect could be even crazier if UFC bolts to Turner.

Not to mention we have no idea if UFC will bundle Zuffa Boxing into any potential TV deal.

With so many factors, PBC must continue to sit and wait. Nothing happens until UFC is settled.
