Salido out pro'd an incoming, albeit, a prolific amateur. No doubt the current version of Loma would destroy any version of Salido. Too bad we'll never get to see it.

Loma was to clean and too green when he fought salido.

Green in the let's get dirty department.

Today's Loma would kill that day's Salido.

There were really all kinds of factors.

Salido came in way above the weight and bashed Loma's balls repeatedly with a ref who didn't enforce the rules.

Besides that, he pressed forward against Loma, giving him constant pressure and not allowing him to dictate the fight. Salido fought a smart fight to go along with the cheating, no doubt.

Beyond that, we're talking about a guy who's in his second pro fight facing a guy who was in his like sixtieth pro fight. The odds of the two fight guy are slim indeed in most situations like this. I think Rafael Marquez fought a grizzled veteran in Victor Rabanales in his first or second fight and of course lost.

Beyond all of this, it's arguable that Loma won this fight. Was very close and a split decision and he had Salido reeling in the last round. The fact that Loma not only didn't wither as the fight progressed but actually got stronger in a twelve-round fight against a former champion with so much experience is nuts all by itself.

I will say that anyone talking of Bob rigging Loma's fights in his favor in regard to lay-offs and weight advantages and what not kind of crumbles under this fight. If Bob was going to make sure his young prospect won every time, wouldn't he have ahem, influenced, the judges to give it to Loma in this close fight?

It was both. He fought very dirty but also was very aggressive and took it to lomachenko who wasnt ready for that kind of fight at that time.

i dont go around saying bob riggs lomas fights in his favor in regard to layoffs and weight advantages.......but if anyone actually does this fight actually lends plenty of credence to it more than it dismisses the notion

it was his 2nd fight and he took an L...if anything bob would want to protect loma and not let him take another one....thus his fights after that would be the ones bob would rig....if anything you could say before this fght and in making this fight bob threw caution to the wind....but it was only 2 fights

i dont buy that nonsense anyway....just saying...logically i think this salido fight would lend more credence to that theory

Loma could beat him at his own dirty game now.

I think Loma was just too inactive in the fight, as he was still feeling his way on how to fight a pro fight.

Loma is much more active of a fighter during the fights now than he was in that fight.

Other than making sure the ref doesn't miss a call, Loma I think learned to not be as inactive in a fight again. Now he is overwhelming opponents rather than doing nothing for 2 min in a round.

If I am Salido, I am never fighting Loma again. That way, he can keep that over Loma forever, even though we all know he would get killed now.

I see what you're saying, but most promoters would keep that "0" alive if they can these days. Clearly Bob didn't influence the judges here which when done, I'm sure happens before the fight even starts. As much as people care about the "0" (me personally I'd rather see a young fighter get humbled because it usually makes or breaks them and separates the wheat from the chaff), Bob would have done everything to preserve it IMO.

                      Agree to disagree.
