No, and you should have made this a poll.
Do you think Max Schmelling took a dive against Joe Louis?

The brain is very powerful. People can convince themselves of whatever they want to believe. There’s an agenda behind this thread.Comment

I remember reading a while back how some people thought Joe’s gloves were loaded and there was shady stuff about keeping Max’s team away from the fight or something. I dunno, didn’t read much because it was just too upsetting if true.Comment

I don't really think so.
I think Joe had learned a lot from their first fight and it showed.
But you know.
It's boxing, man.
You can never be sure.
As long as it's entertaining, it is what it is.
I'm not quick to jump on the dive theory train but I mean Ali-Liston II and Pep-Lulu and LaMotta-Fox and Wilder-Scott were obvious ones. It has happened and I'm sure still does happen to a point, but I think most fights are real. It's pretty damn hard to take a dive and make it look real.Comment

not gonna lie, everytime i saw that finish, i thought that looks sus af, why is he standing there with his hand on the ropes just waiting to be hit?
but then again he might of just been dazed momentarily and didnt know where he was, who the hell knows?Comment

Dang I just watched a 12 minute video of the second fight and they weight in at 193 (Max) and 198.75 (Louis). They definitely looked way smaller than today's heavyweights in there.Comment

Ali-Liston II was a legit knockdown. It was one of the fastest and most precise punches landed in heavyweight history. He caught Sonny straight on and he never saw it coming. It just completely shocked him and short circuited his body for a few seconds and he was done.

I just watched it for the first time and am in the same boat lol. It seems real possible that the first hard right had him out of it and a sitting duck. The whole thing did look weird though.Comment
