I read an article very early this year he was turning pro. It said he and Ivan Dychko signed to the same company. Dychko has fought 4 times but never heard a thing about Yeleussinov since.

I would like a closer look at his record as well. Not sure I believe all of the Russian fighters with 350+ wins floating around considering how much bullcrap comes out of Russia.
He wasn't undefeated, he was 85-2, lost to Billy Graham and Pasquale Pesce, doesn't come close to what Loma achieved, not even in the same galaxy.

I don't think Ramirez is as talented as Rigo though. Rigo will be seen as a joke now, but Rigo is the first boxer that truly amazed me when I watched him.

Maybe Yeleussinov just needs the right team to he be interested in going pro.
Egis Klimas should really try to get himself that sort of talent.
Yeleussinov could fight for a title within his first 10 fights; probably 5-8 fights I would say.
He would also fight at Welterweight, very marketable weight class.
You would think people would be racing/fighting to sign this guy up.
And the Welterweight division is looking good for the future with the good amateur boxers that have gone pro:
Rabii, Kelly, now Giyasov. Pat McCormack will probably go pro soon as well.
Just imagine Yeleussinov, Rabii, Kelly, Giyasov, McCormack at Welterweight. That would be insane.
Of course he have to see how they all do in the pros once they step up.

It looks like Cuba is going to test out their new young gun, Osvari Morrel, at 81kg.
It's going to be interesting to see how La Cruz does at 91kg.
Rigo is indeed an amazing fighter, but Robeisy has that mean streak, he goes toe a toe in the last round, even if he is winning the fight, he fights on the inside, on the outside, on mid range, he can throw every punch, in Rio and London he fought everyone at their own game yet he won the gold twice at only 22, Rigo and Lara are comformist and i've being saying that for years.

I also forgot Stanionis, who is another good pro in the welterweight division, if you sign Rabii, Giyasov, Stanionis or Gaibnazarov, there's no reason to not sign Daniyar, i mean, even his brother has fought on PBC.

And La Cruz imo depends too much on reflexes and he is getting older, this is his fourth olympic campaign (didn't qualify in 2008), i'm not sold on this Cuban squad besides Andy Cruz.

Yeah, unfortunately. Even though he's got 4 wins all by KO over the eventual gold medal winner.

Appreciate the detailed, informative post. Teofilo I will be researching.

I would still pick prime Rigo over Robeisy. Robeisy would be a great pro and I think he could become a star if he somehow turned pro. It would be interesting to see what divisions he would compete at.
He would start his career at 122 or 126 I would assume. He would have more upside than Conlan and Stevenson for sure.

I always forget about Stanionis as well. The Welterweight division can be something special in a few years.
Yeleussinov, Giyasov, Rabii, McCormack, Kelly, Stanionis.
They're going to have to prove themselves first obviously.
How would you rate those guys?

I would like to see somebody interview Yeleussinov about his situation. He has nothing left as an amateur.

I don't know what to think about this Cuban team.
I've watching a lot of their younger fighters and they don't look that impressive. Usually Cuba always has strong up and comers, but they've been lacking a little bit in that department for a couple of years.
Still, a lot of their main guys are still young, so they won't have to worry about that for a bit.

Yeleussinov was able to get away from his contract without any problem, but I have no idea why he decided not to turn over.
He wanted to go back with the Kazakh team, but he has accomplished everything as an amateur, so hopefully he goes professional.

Yeleussinov needs a good team behind him. He is a serious talent.

                      Ridiculous win/loss record.

Any amateur boxers who come close to or even surpass Loma' amateur achievements?
Stevenson, Savon and Papp all have claims to being the greatest amateur ever. 3x gold medals each.
I would personally pick Lomachenko though, the only guy I could maybe put above him is Teofilo
