Because being the only heavyweight champion has intrinsic value to it.

The WBC WBA IBF are all working together in the timing of mandatories, so they're not likely to step on a big fight in name of getting their mandatory through (Charr is at least two fights away from being mandatory anyway).

Beyond that, do you honestly think that the WBC/WBA/IBF wouldn't try to set things up so that Tyson Fury stands as one of the mandatories? lol.

The IBF is on a 12-month cycle, the WBC on basically a 14-month cycle, and the WBA a bit longer than that; between rotating through the mandatories, free periods to fight whomever will manifest.

Pulev v AJ is more interesting.

Thing is, all those fights are meaningless compared to AJ picking up the WBO or WBC and owning 3/4 available belts.
Am I missing something or is Huck now considered a bum? Huck is a great fighter, and he and Povetkin are the same height and Huck has a reach advantage. Huck was one of the best modern Cruisers - Povetkin still beat him.

Huck is a terrific fighter but Povetkin outweighed him by 30+ lbs come fight night. Not only that, Huck was busier, braver and smarter., he was also the one hurting the MUCH bigger man.

Most who saw the fight at felt Huck one, famously his own trainer Atlas lol

So yeah, this guy aint beating AJ and isnt someone hearn would worry about.

Ah, thx. I personally don't see the kind of reward they're looking for with AJ. They seem to have blatantly positioned him to be a cash cow. Hearn isn't even shy about it and even his fans always talk about how big he is and the money needs to make sense. Povetkin doesn't seem to to fall into that picture, IMO. Like I said though, I think AJ himself would fight anyone.

I'm welcome to disagreement though. Created the thread to get some different opinions and angles.

                I stopped reading at "thank".

Do you know what, I can't do it, can't be as big a tit as you lol.

To answer the thread, as someone already said, Povetkin not on PED's goes life and death with Huck.

Also I think AJ's stock has gone down a bit too much from people here, I think there has been an overreaction to the Takam performance, who himself has been a little underrated.

Clearly it's a dangerous fight - but I don't think it's one that Hearn or AJ would avoid. I think with a full camp preparing for Povetkins style would yield a better performance. In fact Takam would be a great sparring partner.

I don't see why they would avoid him.

Also he might be the only opponent AJ can face that might make them an offer.

I don't understand this idea that AJ is being protected somehow. He's a heavyweight, he's gonna get chinned at some stage even the casuals that go to his fights understand that.

Even Ortiz would probably be easy to negotiate with and earn AJ his £15 million.

I don’t get the protection tagged neither, he has had 20 fights as a pro within 4 years. He that resume for someone of his calibre is not bad at all. He had to be rushed because he was stopping every one. If not he should still be learning his trade.
