Just fans in Russia though, right? I don't see a lot of support outside there and I don't think that means anything to Hearn because I cannot conceive that he'd ever send AJ to Russia. I think he'd do anything possible to prevent that.

If you're trying to make it a black/white thing, you're going to fail. Peterson is barely relevant so I never talk about him, period. And, when we thought Ortiz was using again recently, I said several times that he's lost my support if it was true (something like "if true, *** this guy"). But, seeing what the doc said about the ER visit, I can't blame him for anything other than being ****** and not listing the scripts.

When the Floyd IV thing came out I was very interested in getting to the truth. I don't care what color a guy is or what country he's from, if they are violating the rules to get an advantage, I hope they get caught and punished.

I'm not one of these "take sides" guys.

Do you guys think Eddie will try to steer clear of this one? Super-high risk, with very little reward.
In my opinion, at this point, AJ is the number one guy because he beat the last number one guy.

But we also have to remember how the last number one guy beat Povetkin- a lot of clinching and pushing down in a dirty, sloppy fight. Wlad knew how dangerous Povetkin is.

IMO, Povetkin is very bad for AJ. He could very well knock him out and I think Hearn steers away from him for as long as he can.

I agree with that. AJ is #1.
Also, about Wlad, that's true. If Povetkin sets up his shot, you are ***ed. AJ is very good, a better boxer overall, but I don't think he's got the aggressive jab, movement, or willingness to clinch that would neutralize Povetkin. It's a bad match for him, stylistically.

Why? When did POvetkin become a killer puncher? Yeah he had some better performances post Wlad but this is a guy who got beat up by Huck and showed no balls against Wlad. AJ kills him.

Pulev v AJ is more interesting.

Thing is, all those fights are meaningless compared to AJ picking up the WBO or WBC and owning 3/4 available belts.

Thank goodness. That was there to scare away the insecure AJ fans that can't have an honest discussion, and it seems to be working for the most part.

I think Hearn is more scared of Ortiz than Povetkin. Povetkin is actually known and brings a resume and money to the table, he isn’t low reward, Joshua is the top name at HW so he is a target for everyone, Hearn cannot put Joshua in cotton wool especially if he carries around 3 major belts, he would have to defend it against high risk fighter, unless Joshua does a Bowe and dump the belt when he sees a high risk fighter.

I don't know if he can. If Povetkin becomes mandatory and it goes to purse bid, Hearn will not have enough money to win the purse bid - Ryabinsky has insane money.

I am not sure how good Povetkin really is, and how many of those "big wins" were assisted by whatever he was taking.

IMO, Povetkin will look how he looked against Huck, and that Povetkin is no match for AJ.

Directly related to the question - I see many fights Hearn could give AJ rather than to put him with Povetkin. It isn't like fans are asking for Povetkin fight.
