Lee Selby is IBF champion. If things go great, he beats Warrington in a stadium fight in Leeds, beat Frampton in style at Windsor park, and knocks off Oscar Valdez for the WBO belt (likely also in the UK).
With two belts on his shoulders, and under no obligation to anyone other than his family, his coach, and Al Haymon, Selby is going after the remaining belts and the biggest bag possible. That means Russell Jr and LSC, neither of whom Frank can help get.
Freedom is a beautiful thing, especially when it means you get to see the whole bag. Why give up any future when you'd literally be 2-3 fights away from king?
Losing is clearly a risk, but it's not like Warren is going to keep the deal if Selby were to get beat anyway.
Austin Trout and Lamont Peterson, just like every fighter under the Haymon umbrella, get to choose between being in big fights and being active, and they've chosen accordingly; Yordenis Ugas has been under the Haymon umbrella for basically 15 months, and he's had 5 fights. He got paid what he ended up getting paid, but he took the fights to build up his momentum, will likely take another fight soon, and then be in position to pick and choose fights.
Austin Trout fought for the IBF belt in a good fight, and wanted another big fight; it took time, but his next fight ended up being another shot at the IBF belt, where, again, he fought well (still in line for a good fight, though hard to justify another title shot just yet, Austin Trout is likely fighting Julian Williams next, with the winner getting a title shot).
Do you honestly think that Haymon couldn't have found Trout a tickover fight if he wanted tickover money? lol
Lee Selby's future is on Lee Selby continuing to win, and fighting well; Haymon will get him the opportunities, whether it be the big fights in the US against the other beltholders, or tickover fights for the simple fact of being active, if that's the move.
Lee Selby has said he only wants the big fights, and after Warrington and Frampton, there are no big fights left for him with Warren.
