What would be better? How about signing with someone like haymon like let’s take a Austin Trout and Lamont Peterson. How is that working out for them lmao? They both on this very site have said they want to be active and have been available to fight but no fights have been offered to them? That’s sounds like the smart way to go lol.

Inactive 30 year old plus fighters usually don’t fare to well. And what were these guys rewards? Long layoffs so they could get thrown in with monsters like hurd and Spence?

Gee I bet their “advisor” had their best interests at best. 17 months off then fight a huge 154 pound guy like hurd for Trout and 11 month layoff to get thrown in with Spence for Peterson? And Peterson had a forced 14 month layoff before the forced 11 month layoff. 1 fight in 25 months.

Did their advisor do the right thing and get them a tune up a few months prior? Nope.

And that’s exactly why Selby signed with Warren. At least when he was with hearn when pbc has nothing for him he could fight his mandatories in the UK
Lee Selby is IBF champion. If things go great, he beats Warrington in a stadium fight in Leeds, beat Frampton in style at Windsor park, and knocks off Oscar Valdez for the WBO belt (likely also in the UK).

With two belts on his shoulders, and under no obligation to anyone other than his family, his coach, and Al Haymon, Selby is going after the remaining belts and the biggest bag possible. That means Russell Jr and LSC, neither of whom Frank can help get.

Freedom is a beautiful thing, especially when it means you get to see the whole bag. Why give up any future when you'd literally be 2-3 fights away from king?

Losing is clearly a risk, but it's not like Warren is going to keep the deal if Selby were to get beat anyway.

Austin Trout and Lamont Peterson, just like every fighter under the Haymon umbrella, get to choose between being in big fights and being active, and they've chosen accordingly; Yordenis Ugas has been under the Haymon umbrella for basically 15 months, and he's had 5 fights. He got paid what he ended up getting paid, but he took the fights to build up his momentum, will likely take another fight soon, and then be in position to pick and choose fights.

Austin Trout fought for the IBF belt in a good fight, and wanted another big fight; it took time, but his next fight ended up being another shot at the IBF belt, where, again, he fought well (still in line for a good fight, though hard to justify another title shot just yet, Austin Trout is likely fighting Julian Williams next, with the winner getting a title shot).

Do you honestly think that Haymon couldn't have found Trout a tickover fight if he wanted tickover money? lol

Lee Selby's future is on Lee Selby continuing to win, and fighting well; Haymon will get him the opportunities, whether it be the big fights in the US against the other beltholders, or tickover fights for the simple fact of being active, if that's the move.

Lee Selby has said he only wants the big fights, and after Warrington and Frampton, there are no big fights left for him with Warren.

U don’t seem to get it. Warren can still get him big fights. U don’t even know what other featherweights will be on the scene in 12-18 months. U mention Leo and Russell but they’ve been there for 3 years and Haymon never delivered them lmaooooooo!

Why do u think Frampton dumped Haymon? Selbys contract is up in a year so at least he will be free from that hurdle while names like Magdaleno, jo jodiaz, donaire, jesus Rojas, Rigo, Diego De La Hoya etc are all there for Warren to help him get. When he’s free from Haymon in a year he will have even more opportunities than now.

As for Trout, Peterson, you can put Pedraza (before he dumped Haymon), Collazo etc there is a pattern. Haymon sits them on the sideline much longer than the A side and pays them a couple bucks extra to fight his A side fighter who hasn’t been out as long. Instead of giving them a tune up he sets them up to lose and makes it easier for the A side. He’s supposed to represent both sides equally but obviously that doesn’t happen. It’s the pbc way.
