I remember on fight news there was a picture of Walters and a Turkey and Walters saying he was going to carve up Lom - since it was thanksgiving weekend. My prediction was the same one I had for Floyd vs Corrales and that was that Walters wouldnt be able to hit the backside of a barn with a handful of rice against Lom. Lom would circle around Walters and those angles would frustrate Walters who can only work in a straight line.
Be honest: Who picked Walters over Lomachenko?

I picked Loma.
I saw many on here pick the axe man. I know Larry had him as his sig at the time, as did a few others.
They disappeared quick, doe.Comment

Honestly thought Walters would give him trouble, he had an 8 inch reach advantage with KO power - that's huge.
As the match went on you could see Loma getting more and more comfortable and placing his shots clean. I can't remember if Walters was knocked down or not in that last round before he quit, but if the match went another round, based off of the momentum Walters would have been stopped.
Not to excuse the loss but still, **** Bob Arum that big nosed con-merchantComment

Yeah, this whole rusty in 11 months thing was ridiculous.
Plenty of fighters fought after such layoffs and achieved notable victories or if they lost it wasn't used as an excuse.
Klitschko lost to Joshua after a much longer layoff and no one even brings it up anymore.
Floyd had layoffs, came back, dominated like usually.
If you are keeping yourself in shape and sparring an 11 month layoff means nothing. On the other hand, if you go full Tyson Fury in between fights a 6 months break can feel like two years. For example Kovalev drunk and ate unhealthy and took a vacation in between the Ward fights and it would still be ****** to use it as an excuse when he lost the 2nd fight because it's ultimately his own fault anyway.Comment

I thought Loma would win but I was fully with Axeman. The fight was about a year ago. Walters obviously had destroyed Donaire (which apparently is proof of greatness) and faced Lomachenko. Many, many folks said he'd crush Lomachenko after claiming Loma would duck him. Neither happened obviously.
I picked Lomachenko but by a 119-109 type fight.

Loma was obviously a favorite but still an impressive win.
Floyd has been heavy favorite for all his fights the last 10 years. Guess that means the Ws are worthless... lolComment

I agree layoff had nothing to do with it.I thought Loma would pull it out but I admit I thought it would be closer then what it was.(hell a car hitting a squirrel would have been closer)But I hate how all these guys just s hite on him after lost like he was a nobody.Yeah, this whole rusty in 11 months thing was ridiculous.

I thought it would be a close fight but Walters catching him and hurting him. Have to admit, I never thought that Loma would beat him down the way he did but Walters wasn't with it at all that night. Every time I see Loma, he makes it look easier and easier.........Rigo is in for a rough night.Comment
