This never even made it to a sit down...now all of the sudden it was an official offer? Like I said, ward might have been more serious about making the fight at that particular time, but it went nowhere regardless. They thought ggg was worth more than 50/50, and the cotto Canelo winner was a far more lucrative fight...the timing for the ggg ward fight wasn't good from their perspective. We also know ward doesn't move off having things the way he wants. In any circumstance, it would have required more concession from ggg whether 168 or 175 and with the purse split.
to reiterate a point about lil g

So much energy wasted hating on GGG and discrediting his name and career. Yet who and where is the fighter that started calling him "lil'g"??? Oh yeah, he decided to retire in the prime of his career because of "his heart just wasn't in it anymore", "I want to spend more time with family", etc, etc. Sounds like BS to me. Why not start posts about why Ward should come out of retirement and continue fighting instead of bashing another fighter and a fight that did have the potential to be made sooner or later. Ward walked away from the game rather early imo, so why not bash on your hero for quitting the sport and the fight(s) that could still be made. Yeah Ward coulda, shoulda, and woulda,.....but he didn't, instead he quit.Comment

Yeah, actually I will deny that.
I don't think Ward is the boxer who called out HBO for being racist, so you might want to check that.
You are confusing fighters.
Ward moved up when it became clear the MOST LUCRATIVE OPTION HE HAD didn't want any.Comment

So it has to be a sit down in order to be a legit offer? This never even made it to a sit down...now all of the sudden it was an official offer? Do you have any idea how fanboy you sound with that?
One promoter sent another promoter an offer by email, which is how a lot of offers are sent these days.
The promoter who got the offer confirmed that he got it and that it was turned down.
The promoter gave reasons why the offer was turned down.
One of those reasons turned out to be a little bogus.
You can't spin that.
But, I know you will try.Comment

The most lucrative option he had had more lucrative options in Cotto and Canelo.
Earlier this week, soon to be light heavyweight contender Andre Ward (28-0, 15KOs) officially withdrew from a scheduled slot as the co-featured attraction to the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul Alvarez HBO Pay-Per-View undercard. Ward suffered a knee injury during training camp. Ward is regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport, but his inactivity is killing his momentum. He last fought June, where he stopped overmatched Paul Smith - and it was Ward's first bout since the fall of 2013.
He didn't directly called out HBO, but you get the picture.
He said this after his fight vs Rohan didn't get sanctioned and after HBO made it clear that they wouldn't pay for his mismatches unless he agreed to fight Kovalev.
He didn't move up because he dared to be great like you guys say, he moved up because he had no choice. Nothing heroic about it.
Andre Ward is a phony. Always has been. How anyone can like and support this entitled diva is beyond me.Comment

There was no serious discussion because obviously what loffler responded with didn't fit with what ward wanted to do. If we weren't living in the time of blowing smoke to the media, we wouldn't even be talking about this. Ward knew what he was doing, and that's fine...but it's not how fights get made. I believe ward woulda beat ggg, but I also understand that ggg had better options and that ward tends to overvalue his worth and doesn't like to make any concessions. save the fanboy monsense...you're the guy accepting everything ward says at face value and defending his reasoning for not wanting to fight earlier, while discrediting the other side for their reasons. Ward came in at the wrong time with his alleged offer...that's all there is to it. He moved on and did his thing. So it has to be a sit down in order to be a legit offer?

Yeah, I know he didn't, knew it when you tried to float that bullshyt in the first place but screw facts, right?

You said he called out HBO and charged racism.
None of that is in the link you cited.
And I just told you it was the NSAC that wouldn't sanction Murdock (you said Rohan again, like that is his last name which it aint). Absolutely nothing in that link says anything about what HBO will or will not pay for.
The "they" who is pressuring Ward to move up are "fans and critics", not HBO.
All the bullshyt you are claiming, you pulled out your arse.
And, of course, you also included your personal dislike in the post which explains why you fabricated that nice but false narrative.
I'm out.
Enjoy being a fanboy and hater.Comment

Ward didn't send the offer.
Ward's promoter sent the offer.
RocNation communicated by email with Loeffler, Golovkin's promoter.
Golovkin and his promoter TURNED DOWN THE OFFER THEY GOT FROM ROCNATION IN A HALF HOUR.
This was part of the response:
"If the pay-per-view for the Lemieux fight is what we think it should be, Gennady would deserve more than 50% against Ward, considering Ward has barely fought outside of California," Loeffler said. "So it’s unreasonable to ask us to commit to that right now."
Loeffler said his emailed reply to Ward’s camp was that if Ward was still at 168 pounds in early 2017, Golovkin would be pleased to consider the bout at that point.
This was in 2015. That's an official duck by any standard.
Of course we know that PPV did anywhere between a high of 150K and a low of 97K so I guess G wasn't the star Loeffler thought he was.
There was no further negotiation because they flat out did not want to fight Ward.
Period.Comment
