ggg had a fight signed and a better option to chase, that is just fact. the difference between ward/ggg and ggg/canelo, is that canelo was in the same division calling himself champion...ggg needed to move to another division to make the ward fight.

I don't think either side was very serious about making the fight. Loffler overestimated ggg's worth and felt ward didn't offer the right reward for the risk and proceeded to make **** fights while chasing canelo. ward's team made an offer when ggg had a fight already signed then passive aggressively went to the media saying ggg was scared when the offer was turned down...not to mention requiring ggg to make all the concessions to get the fight done. these aren't the actions of 2 sides serious about making a fight...but it doesn't surprise me, cuz I don't think the fight was that lucrative to begin with.
The first Ward Kovalev fight drew about the same as the Golovkin Lemieux fight. So K2 was right. Lemieux had a title in the same weight division and it was a unification fight. Good reasons to take it.

I think they had an accurate assessment of what ward was worth, but overestimated ggg's value. I think they thought ggg was gonna be some type of ppv star who would command more than a 50/50 split with ward, which I think was a big factor in turning down the offer at that time. They were wrong and a ppv with ward would have been better than wade/brook...but they were right to hold out for Canelo imo. It would take 5 ggg-ward ppvs to do that kind of business, and he very well coulda ended up with a L for his trouble.

wards offer wasnt contingent on him cancelling the lemieux fight guy....stop acting like it was....ward wasnt asking to him to not fight lemiuex...that excuse has 0 merit

numerous times loeffler has said if they went to 168 they would come back to 160 and it would be on a one fight basis.....when wards side sent a formal email it was an offer at 168...not 175...stop trying to run with that desperately

nowhere have I said either of those things. why would they send an offer to make a fight right after a ggg just signed to fight? what if he loses? isn't it possible the parameters might change...or maybe they wouldn't even be interested anymore.

ward saying ggg would have to move up to 175 to fight him after he moved there is another example of the games he was playing. I've said ggg's side wasn't overly interested in making the fight either...but let's not pretend roc nation made a big effort either. they sure jumped on the opportunity to smear ggg to the media...not really the actions of a side who really wanted to get the fight done.
