Cant believe all the people who sound like mini promoters when one of their favs fights a lesser fight instead of taking on best.Never heard so many excuses outside a promoter.Hell even Mikey said it was GOOD OFFER.As fans we should always want to see best 2 fight in any div.I get business part of sport but if any one thinks Easter(who could end up being better at SOME POINT)Is bigger draw then Linares you need to do homework.And if any one thinks SHOW IS PAYING MORE FOR EASTER(WHO HAS NEVER FOUGHT ON PREM CABLE)THEN HBO,SHOW would bid for MG V JL DONT KNOW BUISNESS

Oscar De La Hoya made an offer that works for his company, and Mikey saw a better offer.

If Mikey gets through Easter Jr, Showtime will then make the offer to Golden Boy to bring Linares over to fight Mikey (with Mikey Garcia picking the person he wants to promote his show).

I get that point but its a smaller pie.Unless Haymon is willing to lose some money and he don't seem to be in that buis anymore.There is no way SHOW is paying same for Easter(who has never fought on prem cable) the same as HBO,SHOW would bid against eachother for Garcia v Linares.

Says who? HBO's budget has been decimated in recent years. They don't have big money for fights anymore. Even if the HBO pie was a little bigger than Showtime, having to take 50% would still mean Mikey would make less than fighting Easter.

Here are some hypothetical numbers to help you better understand the situation. Let's say HBO was willing to pay $2.5 million for Garcia-Linares and let's say SHO was willing to pay $2 million for Garcia-Easter. Garcia-Linares is 50/50 while let's say Garcia-Easter is 70/30. Garcia would make more money fighting Easter.

Garcia-Easter is an undefeated vs undefeated unification between two fighters SHO has future plans for. Of course they're going to be interested in the fight.

Then you don't understand how this business works. Linares is with GBP. SHO doesn't want to work with GBP. If Linares upsets Mikey, SHO is then completely screwed in a weight class they're invested in. Why in the world would SHO want to risk an HBO fighter beating their top fighter in the weight class when SHO's universe already has two undefeated world champions in that class and there's absolutely no reason to risk their control of the division?
