I'm far from a "green fan"and I think MANY people on here would agree that he has not got his due credit.Im not sure if your "green" or live in St Louis but I hardy ever hear him brought up without it being a joke.Whether it be media or some fans on this post(one of which thought he had no teeth ovs leon).

You should have seen him pre-fight, he looked like he wanted to crawl underneath the carpet.

The only other fighter that looked that scared against Tyson was Seldon who had this frightened grin on his way to the ring. Spinks had a similar demeanor.
Styles make fights...Nothing scares a light heavyweight grabbing low hanging fruit in the heavies than a legit, filled out heavyweight. Foster did his job, he came up and took Quarry out...Quarry was a small heavy, then Foster came a cropper of Ali... All 200 plus pound of Ali with reach, hand speed, etc.

Tyson was at the time, built like Dempsey, not a spare fat molecule on the body, no reach, just strong, quick, and could catch you with both hands.

What could Spinks do? Holmes could not keep Tyson off of him, he was older, but still... Tyson had quick feet, could catch you with either hand, was not getting caught with anything. hard fight for Spinks, did not have the ramrod jab like a heavy, would have had to keep away from Mike, did not have such reach... He had no weapons really lets just say the ring got really small when he fought Mike.

People say all kinds of things. They used to say that tomatoes would kill you. I doubt any intelligent boxing fan would rank Michael Spinks less than top ten and most would put him in the top five. There is no shame in what happened with Tyson, he had no weapons. What a lot of people do not understand is that you can take a heavyweight and shrink him into a perfect size, not all heavyweights have to have reach and height. Ike eubichi is another one... Mike was just too big, strong and fast. he could hit with either hand.

Foster might have done better because he had a devistating punch and some serious reach. But a boxer puncher...one who was more a boxer? well I would maybe bet on Tunney, but even Tunney got caught by Dempsey and almost lost, and Mike hit that hard and perhaps harder. Its just a hard fight to map out and execute. In those days if you took too long to breath Mike was on you tattooing your a ss lol!

True about Tyson fight he was in over head. But foster never had ANY success at heavy. That fight you men with Quarry was with MIKE not JERRY Mike was a bottom 10 maybe 175pder at best.Jerry was much better Foster lost to heavy's Quarry would have beaten he was a good fighter in a bad time to be a heavyweight. That Foster ko of Mike Quarry was great huh?He could really punch at 175

              Yes, he is criminally underrated.

One of the all time greats

              Arguably the GOAT at 175

During the division's deepest era, he was kingpin

Too bad people only remember him for the Tyson ko1

yes my bad, i meant to say that Foster dutifully grabbed the low hanging fruit in beating that member of the Quarry family but when he was in with Ali it was a different story.
