Michael Spinks one of most underrated fighters.

I know a lot of people when they think of Spinks they think of Tyson fight. And also that bs about him being afraid. If you go back and watch that fight he DID NOT fight afraid.Even after 1st kd whats he do?Run? NO he tried to catch Tyson with his best punch(overhand right)and Mike catches him. Also if you were a boxing fan back then NOBODY talked about their fear like Spinks.I mean he talked about be afraid before EM fight for title and the Qawi fight. He was most honest fighter when it came to talkin about fear(which ALL fighters have)I remember him talkin about when Butch Lewis told him he had holmes fight and he was like"are u nuts!! he is a heavy"So I don't think he fought anymore scared in Tyson fight then any other(which he had normal fighter fear).

And he is clearly top 5 or so lightheavy of all time.Still the only 175 pder to beat REAL heavyweight champ(Holmes).Roy beat Ruiz NOT Lewis and Michael Moorer never won a real title at 175(WBO not recognized at time)and he won it from a guy who not even top 20.Look at the fighters he beat during(and before) his title run.It was still the golden age for 175pders.

It just kills me that this HOFer is thought of as a scared bum who got knocked out in one round in only real fight he ever had.People forget(or just don't know)that was 1st loss and 1st kds he ever had.And of course he was a Gold Medal winner in 76.

All I know is Spinks would beat Ward, Roy Jones, Kovalev and the rest of these 175 pounders. Larry Holmes was not an easy guy to beat back than and Tyson at that time was unbeatable

Larry was past best but your right he was no easy touch esp at 48-0 and I agree that was Tyson at his best. Also agree he would beat all now and even Jones,Ward. Ward and him would be kinda funky matchup. just now trying to pic them in together it might be ugly as hell. just styles

Gene Tunney and Ezzard Charles beat the man at Heavyweight and they were both career Light Heavies

they were never CHAMPS at 175 even though EZZ was the best ever maybe at 175.And ole Bob Fitzsimones was former 160 pd champ when he beat Corbett for title AND then went DOWN to 175 and won title.

Right, I never said they were and your post never mentioned anything about Spinks being Champ either, you just said he was only 175 pdr to beat the real heavyweight champ
