Michael Spinks one of most underrated fighters.

I was never a fan of his style, he had a very feminine way of throwing punching. (But nevertheless he seemed effective, technically I still don't understand how he beat Larry Holmes, or even competed with him etc).

    Decent fighter.

One of my favorites and all time greats.
He fought Dwight Muhammad Qawi in a Light Heavyweight Unification bout only 2 Months after his wife died in a car accident. What a man.
      I respect him.

NO he tried to catch Tyson with his best punch(overhand right)and Mike catches him. Also if you were a boxing fan back then NOBODY talked about their fear like Spinks.I mean he talked about be afraid before EM fight for title and the Qawi fight. He was most honest fighter when it came to talkin about fear(which ALL fighters have)I remember him talkin about when Butch Lewis told him he had holmes fight and he was like"are u nuts!! he is a heavy"So I don't think he fought anymore scared in Tyson fight then any other(which he had normal fighter fear).
Funny you mention Spinks. I was watching some of his earlier work recently. Really sharp and definitely under-rated.

I think a lot of people didn't like that he beat Holmes

I thought Holmes beat Spinks pretty clearly in one of the fights, but I can't remember if it was the rematch or the first one.

He was timid against Tyson. I know he's a boxer, and I know when there's a widely embraced opinion we have to have people argue against it, but I think it's true. He was frightened. Didn't he throw out the IBF title just to get away from him?
It was the second fight. I thought Holmes won.

He was an excellent light heavyweight but too small for a heavyweight like the prime Tyson. He wasn't afraid. He just got crushed.
