You may as well say Ricky Burns is just as good. Multiple titles in multiple weight divisions.

Who has gone from a loss and a 2 year hiatus straight into a vacant world title fight in a division he didn't fight in last against a basically unknown challenger?

I always thought that the reason he fought at 154 wasn't because he outgrew welterweight. It got to a point where he couldn't beat the welterweight title holders....and look....there was a vacant title at 154.

I never cared for Cotto throughout much of his career. I gained a lot of respect for him after the Mayweather and Martinez fights. I thought the Mayweather fight was a waste of time but he proved me wrong.

Put it this way, Cotto went through some very brutal fights, early in his career, especially that torres fight. His got a career changing beating in the first marg fight, got another carreer ender against Pacquiao, yet STILL managed to to continue his career and beat good opposition and win some belts. Not many fighters can make a comeback the way he has. Pacquiao is another to be able to stay mentally strong and beat top guys after that brutal 1 punch ko from Marquez. These kind of fighters deserve respect from boxing fans.

Very overrated not even in the top 20 all-time... he surely and foul mouth when you see him and get him in a bad situation, no professionalism.. the guy just needs to leave boxing..

Underrated? LOL.

All his biggest wins were against fighters past their prime. Then he lost every big fight he ever had. His biggest win was against Sergio, and Sergio was a broken down fighter with bad knees.

He faced a long list of great fighters but he choked against most...

That's the opposite of underrated.... He had a big personal fanbase so he always got another chance at a marquee fight.

I wouldn't say he choked. He just got beat by better fighters.

Cotto fought a lot of fighters that others avoided. He didn't win that one big fight that would had made him a lock for the HOF.

Still he always gave good performances and attracted the masses. Even his haters wouldn't miss his fights
