If there is one thing I know its Cotto always knocks out the "middle eastern guy". Just look at his resume. Sadam is going to sleep!

overrated ...his best win was a close SD 10 yrs ago vs mosley. he fought the best because he brought that puerto rican money but he's lost to them.

Nothing left to prove champ, it is time to retire. Cotto has nothing but years of good old school clean fighting in his resume, whilst some of his so called "better" contemporaries in the division resort to cheating with steroids or hand wraps, or fighting an MMA fighter without any boxing experience.

Nobody will answer my question though.
Who has gone from a loss and a 2 year hiatus straight into a vacant world title fight in a division he didn't fight in last against a basically unknown challenger?

Pacquiaos supposed 8th weight class world title was vs a guy in Margarito who was destroyed by mosley at welter, then was suspended for cheating, beat 1 cab driver and all if a sudden they got to fight for a vacant 154 pound championship at 150. Sugar ray Leonard retired for 3 yrs and got to get an immediate title shot vs Hagler when returning. You'd be hard pressed to find any of those world title situations replicated either. Btw, comparing Ricky Burns to cotto is blasphemous.
Correct.. hence why starting out an article using the word legacy and 4 weight world champion is blasphemous as well.
Broner 4 weight world champ bla bla bla.
Agree with most of your points.

I've actually post this before, but I copied it because I have never seen a resume that boasts the type of competition on this list questioned. It could only be described as a severe lack of knowledge, pure ******ity, or blatant racism.
Here's a list of Cotto's opponents over 4 different divisions. It is very important to note that this list consists of top 10 "Ring" rated fighters. Not to be confused with sanctioning ratings. These opponents were at the time, considered the top fighters in they're respective divisions. It's also important to remember that the competition at Jr. Welterweight, and Welterweight at that time, was far superior to most of today's divisions.
Jr Welterweight
2003
Carlos Maussa, would later be ranked #6
2004
Lovemore NDou, ranked #8
2005
Demarcus Corley, ranked #9. Ranked as high as #3. Ranked among the top 10 Jr Welterweights for 6 years straight.
Ricardo Torres, ranked #10
2006
Paulie Malignaggi, ranked #2 in 2007
Welterweight
2007
Oktay Urkal, rank #10
Zab Judah, rank #5
Shane Mosey, rank #3
2008
Antonio Margaritto, rank #1
2009
Joshua Clottey, rank #5
Manny Pacquiao, rank #1
Jr Middleweight
2010
Yuri Forman, ranked #6
2012
Floyd Mayweather, ranked #1
Austin Trout, Ranked #3
Middleweight
2014
Sergio Martinez, ranked Lineal Champ
2015
Daniel Geale, ranked #5
Saul Alvarez, ranked #1 at Jr Middleweight when fight occurred.
Cotto was not favored for most of these fights, including Sergio Matinez, and Yuri Forman.
