Comments Thread For: Miguel Cotto's Underrated Legacy

by Andreas Hale - After sixteen years, world titles in four weight classes and some memorable wars with some of boxing's best, Miguel Cotto will call it a career on December 2nd when he faces Sadam Ali at Madison Square Garden in New York. It's not quite the big name opponent that some expected and let's be real, Cotto was never going to fight Gennady Golovkin or Canelo Alvarez but it will be a worthy sendoff for arguably one of the most underappreciated boxers of this era...

He faced a long list of great fighters but he choked against most...

That's the opposite of underrated.... He had a big personal fanbase so he always got another chance at a marquee fight.

'underrated'?!?!? quite possibly the most overrated fighter of the 21st century when you analyse his performances at world level.

Cotto is a true legend and he earned the right to go out with a fight against Ali.
All you idiots that are crying about that fight are the same morons who paid $100 to watch Mayweather go out against a guy making his professional debut. So you dumb ****s have no right to complain about the Cotto-Sadam Ali fight.
If you don't wanna watch it then don't. But quit crying and b itching and stop trying to put the fight down.
Cause you mother****ers were swinging off Mayweather's nutts when he chose his last opponent!

Never waited for the "right time" to fight somebody? From what I recall, he was kept away from Mayweather at 140. He apparently "wasn't ready." I remember seeing him at the Gatti fight.

He did come up short when he stepped up. Pac and Floyd are A level fighters, I would say Cotto is B-

Wish he would have rematched Trout.

He did give Floyd a tough fight.

Cotto is good in my book.

Anybody that calls him overrated should be ashamed of themselves. He is a legit HOF fighter. Thank you Miguel there isn't a c*** on this forum you couldn't beat the s*** out of.
