Ottke and his team where the ones who didn't want the fight, not Joe. They said they weren't interested in the fight even though Calzaghe said he had no problems travelling. Go and do your research.

Joe didn't fight Johnson because he had hand injuries. That's why the fight didn't happen the first two times. The third time was when Johnson had a fight against Woods and Joe was lining himself up for the winner. Woods won, but priced himself out the fight with Joe. The Johnson fight was then dead in the water.

Joe was scared of flying, but he never once said that was the reason for fights not happening. You just made that up. Calzaghe had no problem with flying if it made business sense, or if he was doing some promotional stuff like in the Brewer fight.

Wrong on Hopkins again. Do your research. Hopkins asked for 3 mill and got it, but then turned around and asked for double the next day. The fight collapsing wasn't due to Calzaghe wanting it in Cardiff, that's a straight up lie. As I say, do your research to see what the head of showtime had to say on the matter.

Frank Warren always spewed poison on any fighter who left him, so I wouldn't take what he said at this time as the truth. Warren has since backtracked on any of his comments about Joe.

How was fighting his toughest fights when being clearly passed his best "calculated" risks you idiot??? Kessler and Lacy where the fights fans were calling for at 168.They didn't duck Joe like so many had before, so the fights happened. Most were saying Lacy was going to destroy Joe in a few rounds. Joe was the underdog. And against Kessler he was only a slight favorite.
He then stepped up a weight and fought the champ in Hopkins. Nothing calculated about any of that.

You hate Joe, it's easy to see that. But don't go round speaking a load of bull****, yeah.

P.S The Jones fight offered Joe more money than the Pavlik fight did, that's why Joe fought him for his last fight instead.
everything you said was a lie. have a good day liar. already done this same sh-it back in 2008. go read my posts. you are trying to argue that warren lied in court about changing the fight from usa to wales? garbage. ill take that more seriously than what you have to say. go dig up the court documents if you want to find out the truth. i did. you wont do that of course because it hurts the claims you made up out of yoru azz. everyone could tell calzaghe was scared to fight anyone good .he said it himself in his own book yet here you are denying it

Warren has been proven to lie about fighters that left him. Joe isn't the only one he did it to. So yeah, it is a load of bull****.

Go and see what the head of showtime had to say. Hopkins DID ask for double the very next day. Do your research you clown.

oh ok the guy lied in court then. cool. you are a very reasonable person. everyone who says something bad about calzaghe is fake news right? where have i seen this strategy before? he said it himself he didnt want to take any risks unless it was for big money but you know better than him? he made himself a lot of moeny fghting bums and when he was ready to retire he finally took some calculated risks. meaning if he had taken these risky fights earlier in his career he probably loses and is unable to make all that money. hey i wold have done the same but im a coward.

ward only took risks because he knew the ref and judges were in his pocket and he could get away with blatant cheating. these guys are both frauds.

The only time Calzaghe asked for a big pay-cheque was for the Jones fight. And that was due to where Joe was at that time with all his injuries.

If you remember when he was fighting Thornberry and Starie, his career was all over the place. SKY and Warren were getting a bit bored of Joe getting injured all the time. He wasn't called sick-note for nothing. There was actually talk of Joe walking away if things didn't improve. The Sheika fight was make or break for him. Luckily, he came through with flying colours. That's when his career really picked up. He wasn't ready to risk a fight against Jones before this time.

After, Warren made a 5 mill offer to Jones for a fight but it was refused. No counter offer was ever made by the Jones camp.

What are you talking about?? If Joe would have taken fights like Lacy and Kessler early on in his career he would have lost??? Yeah, that makes perfect sense. A prime Joe couldn't beat them, but a past his best version could??

You Calzaghe haters are something else.

He has a better resume and better skills.
THE best post on this thread.

            • Ward was the better overall boxer where as Calazaghe was more physically gifted. Styles make fights so I would favor Calazghe in a fantasy match up.

Don't kid yourself that Joe ever wanted to fight Roy.

Frank W and Joe just kidded to the media, knowing full well a fight was never viable.

i found this funny. fighting sheika was make or break....a guy who 2 years prior who had lost to a 28-44 fighter but dont worry he was coming off a gift win over glen johnson who had lost 3 in a row

it picked up how? he still fought nobodies and past prime former champs for the next 5 years. fail

Ward cleaned out all of 168 before he moved up to fight your kov.You don't Froch,Kessler,Dawson(who was legit champ at 175)And I know he moved down to fight Ward at 168 because THATS what HE wanted.plus he was always light at 175 always coming in 173 even 172 and change
