Great fighters captivate fans, great fighters have entire arena’s screaming and erupting every time they step in the ring. Great fighters have you anxious and excited for Saturday night to watch them fight, great fighters end up in posters on the wall in your boxing room...Andre never did that.
If that's the case, then Arturo Gatti and Nigel Benn are 2 of the greatest to ever get in the ring.

As far as im concerned he retired after the Froch fight. Nothing he did after that impressed me.

      HOF, just, ATG, absolutely not

So he's gonna be ranked above Joe Calzaghe and below Roy Jones?

          Andre who?

Oh that mixed race guy from Oalkand...remind me of his highlights reel, I just can't quite picture one.

His last fight was a weird premature stoppage I think that’s the kind of thing that’ll make him get underrated

monzon ruled his division for like 7 years, record in MW title defenses. undisputed. ward fighting in a division that not many know didn't help plus inactivity and just 2 title fights at 175 didn't help either, neither did the controversies around his 2 biggest wins. not denying his skills or whatever. but that's the true.

It all depends on what you consider "great". If you mean an undefeated record than you might say yes but if you mean an exciting fighter whose fun to watch and doesn't foul, than you have to look elsewhere.
I could be wrong, but I doubt if many boxing fans replay tapes of Ward fights.
Winning is important but a big part of the sport is entertainment.

a great fighter. Not my favourite to watch but he found a way to win every time. Inactivity didn't help his cause.or the fact that he pulled Dawson down to 168 to fight. He was a little bit too cautious and calculating for me. He wanted 10 tune ups before fighting kovalev until HBO put their foot down. First fight with kovalev was close. I had him winning by one point. Nobody seems to give him credit for biting down and fighting back against krusher when it looked like he was going to get destroyed early on. kovalev was struggling in the rematch low blows or not. I think ward would have stopped him anyway.
All in all, probably an all time great

I know what Monzon accomplished. I'm talking about exciting styles since you implied that was a reason for Ward not being considered great.
