Rumor: Richard Shaeffer and Al Haymon returning to HBO?

Yep, that was the feeling i got with the whole saga. I don't think they were prepared for oscar to fight back, clean himself up (Not sure he has done that yet to be honest) and fight to keep control of his company. I think that move actually helped oscar sober up.Comment

Haymon advised his fighters to not sign exclusive promotional contracts.
What was Richard supposed to do at that point? Lose all of Haymon's fighters or continue to work with them on a fight by fight basis?
Haymon had all of the leverage. Staying on Haymon's good side is how GBP was able to become what it became.
So Richard stabbed his friend in the back by getting him a $100 million offer for his company? Oscar was coked out of his mind and barely functional. Sounds like Richard was trying to look out for his friend by maximizing his profit before the wheels fell off.Comment

HBO won't let them use the PBC in the manner that Showtime does. Showtime Boxing usually lets it seem that PBC along with Showtime are responsible for presenting the fights and producing them, which is bull****. HBO won't allow that. What is the purpose of using the PBC name when it is done. It is not a promotional company. The whole idea of it being a UFC type league is dead so why would HBO allow its name on their boxing program. I do not see why Showtime allows it.Last edited by jdp28tx; 09-28-2017, 04:46 AM.Comment

Schaefer worked for Golden Boy not Haymon, he should be doing what is in the best interest of Golden Boy. If Schaefer was in the right then why did he end up paying Golden Boy millions of dollars?Comment

I dunno how true this is but PBC have only had 10 fights this year and only maybe 3 were worth something. Also, there were no fights until June...lol
So Haymon needs a platform, considering he has more fighters on his roster than anyone else. I can imagine a HBO contract working out well, considering TR is focused on ESPN these days.Comment

You can't explain business to these people. They only understand emotion. And Haymon paid Oscar $15 mil to take his fighters. All of those fighters combined never generated close to $15 mil for Golden Boy. But Oscar got robbed doeHaymon advised his fighters to not sign exclusive promotional contracts.

He was doing what was in the best interest of GBP. He couldn't force Haymon's clients to sign exclusive promotional agreements. That was non-negotiable. So his choice was make a lot of money promoting Haymon's fighters or lose those fighters with nothing to show for it.
Haymon had all of the leverage. He could have brought his fighters anywhere he wanted. What is it that you wanted Schaefer to do? Refuse to make money for the company? Your position doesn't make any sense.
He didn't end up paying GBP millions of dollars. You don't seem to have your facts straight about anything that went down.If Schaefer was in the right then why did he end up paying Golden Boy millions of dollars?Comment
