Credit to Wilder but why should it be called a wild and crazy concept to actually defend your title against a good quality opponent? That just shows that is not happening regularly in boxing today, but in many years gone by, which is why Di Bella is saying it's a throwback.

It's the way it's supposed to be. Let's not praise people for doing what they're meant to.

I'm struggling to see why folks are taking such a negative view on this. There are a hand full of legit HWs and Wilder is fighting one of them while two others have mandos scheduled. Are folks complaining for the sake of having a complaint? Is this the state of boxing?
I've been one of the few cats wondering wtf the Ortiz hype is about if you look at my posting history so while I can't fault Wilder for fighting a guy most of the media & most fans are hyping. I can't really get beyond my own take on Ortiz, but I suppose primarily my criticism is at DiBella acting like this is THAT f#cking bold a move & big of a fight if anything.

It for sure doesn't feel that way to me & most of the people hyping Ortiz seemed to enjoy hyping him more when he was the guy people were seemingly avoiding, if that was actually ever a reality, & now that he finally got a big fight I see less Ortiz hype already & idk if that was a Wilder thing or woulda been a thing no matter the higher level guy he fault. I suspect its the latter.

LOL right. DiBella was damn near ******* off Wilder on the stage for fighting a guy who's at the end of the day a hyped contender most see as legit (I disagree, but fair play its not like I've never been wrong, but its not like the public at large hasn't been wrong either).

Yeah this is insane fighting someone with a pulse, who ever thought boxing was supposed to be a competitive sport. I will give him credit if he actually wins and does not get exposed instead. Sit your old crazy ass down DiBella. Pathetic display of praise for finally doing his job.

Props to Wilder for stepping up to the plate and taking on the baddest, most avoided dude in the division. Joshua had the chance to fight Ortiz (his MANDATORY!) and will be fighting a bum instead.

That being said, King Kong is gonna wreck Wilder.

This what I read as what was "crazy".

"When I said before this is Jake LaMotta-like stuff, this is throwback stuff. Who leaves money on the table? Who pays money to fight someone harder? And no offense to Luis Ortiz, he ain’t exactly a giant draw."

Wilder could have made more money fighting Whyte who has KO written on his forehead. He turned that down to fight Ortiz.

This is some crazy ****??!! Since when has boxers fighting good opposition become “CREAZY ****”!

It might be crazy for Wilder as all he has fought is bums before this fight, but fighters are supposed to fight the best.. Wilder has waited till his 40th fight to fight someone good.. The only thing crazy is that he waited so long.

Nowadays were giving fighters props for finally fighting someone with a pulse after 40 fights! Ridiculous!
