Comments Thread For: DiBella: This is Some Crazy ****' Wilder Is Doing With Luis Ortiz!

NEW YORK Lou DiBella believes Deontay Wilder has been unfairly vilified during his 2-year championship reign. People seem to forget, DiBella says, that Wilder was about to board a plane to Moscow when he found out that the WBC canceled his mandatory title fight against former WBA heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin in May 2016. Povetkin's positive PED test ruined what was supposed to be the most important test of Wilder's career.

Seems more like to me that Eddie Hearn told Wilder he wouldn't be getting the big money he wants to fight Joshua unless he builds his name more by actually beating someone people have heard of before making the Joshua fight happen. Plus, Wilder has done so little that he feels he needs respect, and what better risk/reward ratio than a faded 40 year old opponent who was clearly on PEDs when he looked good? So now you put him on VADA, right? ... because Wilder has the WBC ... and turn him into a shell of himself, by both aging him before you fought him and taking him off the PEDs ... then when you beat him, you can act like you beat a monster, when really you only beat the 20th best heavyweight in the world by the time you factor his age and the lack of PEDs into the equation. Just more smoke and mirrors bull**** in boxing, using the fact most fans don't know follow the details like VADA testing or even age as a way to fool them, and manufacture credit for a "top win" for yourself without actually having to risk facing a prime, top opponent.

Same **** Floyd, Ward, and many of the other top North American boxers of this generation have been doing for years, sadly. When did North American boxing become like this? It used to be the best, with tons of true champions. What happened?

So no, this isn't Jake Lamotta stuff. DiBella should be ashamed to pimp Lamotta's name like that the day after he died. Boo this man.

I'm not a fan of Wilder but I got to give him the credit. Yes he fought C class fighter his whole career but he did try to fight Pov and the man cheated... Its not his fault.

Now hes going for Ortiz as people asked. So give him props where props his due.

Sure the Povetkin thing wasn't his fault, but what about the numerous other defences

''When I said before this is Jake LaMotta-like stuff, this is throwback stuff. Who leaves money on the table? Who pays money to fight someone harder? And no offense to Luis Ortiz, he ain’t exactly a giant draw.''

This is what I'm talking about Louie is telling it! glad Deontay has the right people in his corner. Would Anthony Joshua have paid Luis Ortiz step-aside money to fight Deontay? NOPE, he go down the line and prolong this ass whooping he got coming.

He actually been trying to get a big fight 4 a minute now. Doesn't seem to me like the kind that's going to run from big fights

What's crazy about a champion taking on a decent opponent for once? is that how far boxing has fallen?

It's the way it's supposed to be. Let's not praise people for doing what they're meant to.

Hearn offered Wilder 4million to fight Whyte; He could've taken that money for a fight a lot easier than Ortiz. He didn't. He took less money to fight a bigger, better opponent. know your facts before coming on here.

BTW, everything else you wrote is bogus as well. Floyd and Ward both fought the best of their generation in their respective weight classes. You're a clown dude
