LOL was overhyping that a lil much for me & cats like me who think Ortiz is unproven & overrated.

I mean to some degree yea give Wilder respect cuz Ortiz is a guy people are hyping so yea I understand the move towards fighting a hyped guy, but this feels like a very suspect hyped guy & this is sorta a no win situation for Wilder for that reason with a lot of fans like myself. Cuz for me if Wilder wins its him beating a overrated guy & if he loses he either lost to a overrated guy or he lost to a guy who just got proven to be legit lol. So hindsight being 20/20 I could give Wilder respect for the opponent selection...but only after he lost lol.

I think Wilder is going to lose this fight but he should at least get full credit for taking on Ortiz.

The Cuban is probably the second best heavyweight in the world behind Joshua. In my opinion.

I can't wait to see this fight!! Should be a good one. I think Wilder will win this. Then fight Anthony Joshua sometime next year hopefully! He's been calling out Joshua for a minute.

Nothing crazy about it. DiBella is over-hyping Wilder for fulfilling an obligation as a belt holder.

            Yes.

Wilder is doing what a champion is supposed to do, not sure what is so crazy about it. He wants to fight twice per year against journeymen for short money, rather than earn $5M to fight Whytte over seas, or demand the best opposition.

Who has Wilder fought that has been a huge draw ? These guys are truly out of touch with boxing in general if they think fighting Ortiz is a step down in POPULARITY . Does Dibella realise social media plays a huge part in fights ? He must ,he has a twitter account ! SMH

Team wilder is acting like a charity service here ...when actually Ortiz could have just waited for Joshua and leav Wilder fighting who knows who ?

Props to Wilder. That British p*ssy AJ is terrified of Ortiz

In reading the article it appears that Wilder paid the step aside fee out his purse for the fight. He us ******** on himself. If it's an easy win..ok. He establishes himself as the #1 or #2 HW in the world. He likely also establishes himself as a bigger draw.

I'm struggling to see why folks are taking such a negative view on this. There are a hand full of legit HWs and Wilder is fighting one of them while two others have mandos scheduled. Are folks complaining for the sake of having a complaint? Is this the state of boxing?

I like the promotional rhetoric by Dibella because this is just about the best fight around for Wilder as far as competition value. The only negative is I don't feel any excitement from the casual community to see this let alone even know about it. Still think it'd be great for boxing if Tyson Fury could make a spirited comeback against Wilder and Joshua. At least it'd be amazing trash talk and plus it'd be great if he could just sacrifice 1 or 2 L's for the vitality of the sport (considering he seems in piss poor shape).

I hope to see Bellew throwdown in another high profile HW fight. Gotta keep that momentum going. Heard he said his heart hasnt really been in the sport for a while so maybe it'd be best if he returned to cruiser. At least there he'd still be a huge star in the UK, have a longer career, and possibly take less damage. Cruiser really needs its fighters. Such an underrated division with not a lot to show for it in its inception
