Nope, I'm just obsessed with boxing and I read a lot. I don't watch any other sport unless its on sport center.

But you can't tell me arum didn't hold him back and wouldn't let him tangle with Shane, Oscar, cotto etc when Floyd was still with arum..

It's not like Floyd wasn't a champ and p4p by 1998.. arum was marinating him i guess
Lmao. Was there ever "Marinating" memes?

I think most fans thought this at the time doe so its not like Arum was the only guy believing Floyd vs ODLH wasn't THAT interesting. And I'm not sure anyone expected it to be the biggest PPV of all time.

I'm a long time Floyd fan & hell I even thought he was nuts when he was calling out ODLH & SSM when he was at 135 & they were tip top 147lbers & they rightfully paid no attention to him.
Maybe... Pay for ..... favor for favor. Perhaps. Lol. It seems there's always a rumor about a fight deal leaking. There's less than 10 promoters that matter. Are these journalist, fielding calls left and right? He's letting the actual deal announcement marinate.

He didn't see money in a Floyd/De La Hoya fight? This guy is ****ing delusional. He's clueless.
I think he knows. He's just going to determine what and when they get it by when it makes good business sense for him. Building(or manufacturing) a fighter and portentislly having him get shredded because the fans are clamouring for it doesn't make business sense without a plan in place.

You do realize that there are different types of intelligence. Yes? Such binary thinking.

The always winning part might not have been great for boxing. Now every lesser fighter has to be undefeated to get attention. That why the media played a terrible role by bashing Mayweather. They made undefeated look like an accomplishment that any fighter could achieve with matchmaking, instead of saying Floyds special and setting realistic standards for fighters. Everyone's undefeated until they aren't.
Speaking of... Victor Postol comes back on the 16th lol

I think Arum while successful is a conventional boxing promoter. By leaving Arum, Team Mayweather was able to think outside the box in terms of promotion and executed a much more ambitious marketing plan.

He realized from watching wrestling that someone has to play the bad guy to pull in the casuals. PBF was exciting, in wars, and none of that got him the big paydays. Arum would not market him that way. Arum markets none of his fighters that way. GGG despite all his knock outs still cannot sell PPV on his own. No boxer has had no where near as many PPV fights in a row even selling good numbers with the likes of Madiana and Guerrero. Fighters that the casuals had no knowledge of.

Also he knew that he was getting underpaid for the fights that Arum was offering him. To think that he could have fought cotto for just 8 million if he had listened to Arum is just silly.

Arum learned from it. Look at what Mikey had to go through to get out of his contract. He wont let someone just buy themselves out ever again.

If you think that Floyd would have eventually made the same without fighting the "golden boy" then you are delusional. The Oscar fight put Floyd on a huge platform and he played the villain role perfectly!

Cause Mosley was a nice respectful guy and Hopkins style was super boring. Fawking Larry you want to make it seem like Floyd did all this on his own and he didn't! He had massive help! From arum starting his career out to Oscar agreeing to fight him and give him the chance at a mega fight to uncle al. But in ball washer larrys head floyd did it alone with no help from anyone and Oscar had nothing to do with it.
Manny PAC became the second biggest attraction AFTER fighting Oscar

So is Haymon overpaying his fighters or underpaying them? Which is it?
