This is all Kovalev's fault, I'm a fan of his but the proof is in the pudding.
Even Abel Sanchez, who trained him at the start of his career, said recently that Kovalev is selfish and didn't listen at times. Kovalev thinks he can do it all himself, for himself. He doesn't respect those around him trying to help him and what that relationship means from fighter to trainer/team.
It's obvious Kovalev needs to reflect on his decision making and temperament to find success with a team willing to train him.

Seriously: This makes me wonder how good Kovalev could be if he committed himself and had a little more humility and ability to respond to critique.

People calling JDJ an ******* for this but if its true about Kovalev trying to cut his money and not paying him what he's owed then **** loyalty.
Don Turner also has been less than complimentary about Kovalev. More in a boxing sense, but its not something you would say about your own fighter if you liked him as a person.
Abel Sanchez also had his problems with Kovalev iirc
